I believe the FDA recommends 1oz. of beans for every 8oz. of alcohol

That is correct, we should weigh our beans for accurate amounts. Also the seeds does not have flavor, although I like seeing the seeds in my extract. The flavor is in the pod itself.

I made the extract before with vodka and loved it. I also made the vanilla sugar and gave to one of Aaron’s teachers. She was so pleased. I should try making extract with bourbon as you did. Bet that would be great in a sweet potato pie!
