as someone who dislikes custom characters as they feel so overdesigned from the base roster thie feels cathartic

the issue is actually that they're *under* designed they usually have simple, big moves that occasionally have a slider and they make basically every turn identical to close-range rock paper scissors the base roster is specifically designed to combat this and make for a more setup-heavy game of creatively mixing up and outsmarting your opponent. But I see what you mean.
