As someone who is seasoned hiker in my area, you never hike in a storm. You seek shelter immediately or risk death. A light rain is not the end of the world (it lightly rained on me when I hiked before but I was seeking shelter) but thunderstorms, you go find shelter and stay put. No view or waterfall is worth your life. Remember, when it rains, do not climb wet rocks or climb during a thunderstorm. You will die or get injured. If you find yourself lost, please remember to stay put when you find clean water (be sure to make a visible and obvious trail).

The first story is proof you don't have to be on Everest to get summit fever.

Hiking/climbing and all other outside activities should cease during lightening storms. Don't eff with Mother Nature!!

I mean after being told and warned about the storm headed our direction. They still decided to press on to the highest point which we all know lightning strikes the highest point and then not only that let's grab onto the cables metal cables. So many bad decisions that led to a tragic end. You can't win against mother nature. My condolences to the families that lost a loved one's.

So the first story happened because they didnt heed the weather forecast?

To me it looks like Jacob was forced to swerve off the road like if he was being harrassed, and the arrows in the ground are just creepy since no-one mentioned he himself had a bow. Being found that far away makes me think he was chased or "hunted". Maybe a road rage incident? Some people really are that crazy and determined to "teach someone a lesson". The actions of rangers not calling for assistance is always a show of ego, and it's odd considering the term "over burdened" was used, in which case you'd certainly want to seek outside help. So that makes me think there's been some trouble going on, that they didn't particularly want to divulge. Trouble of which maybe one of their OWN had relation to, even just distantly that they themselves weren't culpable for.

The park is not responsible. This is a known risk you accept when hiking a mountain. Sad There are always people looking to place the blame on someone else.

7:07 this is still in the middle of the story (I assume) but i had to just pause for a second cause your story telling is ON POINT! I love a good book and this is what I feel like I’m doing right now. The detailed descriptions and their thoughts and action’s described are very intriguing! I’m also someone who finds lightning storms both terrifying but rendering me awestruck at the same time. Like how people describe seeing car accidents, you see the chaos and destruction but can’t tear your eyes away. 10:56 wow… how perilous.. and heart wrenching 💔 I can’t even imagine what any of them are thinking or feeling in these moments. To me, this is one of those situations where I question if our best bets would be to somehow just end our lives to ease the pain and suffering cause there’s no way there will be a happy ending. How desperate these guys were, paralyzed and exhausted and still struggling to help their friend who was even worse iff than they…. Whew! If you can’t already tell I’m a huge empath and I have a hard time not imagining myself in others shoes and just listening to this unrelenting power of nature I almost feel short of breath and anxious like I have to do something to help… but I can’t 💔 As sad as it is to think about having to let your friend go knowing he’s about to fall off the side, I always try to think about the silver lining in situations and the silver lining here is that falling over two thousand feet, he likely wouldn’t have suffered anymore 13:40 wait! What are the chances of a friggin trained EMT just randomly showing up to the cave!? I’m waiting to hear he was specifically sent there or something but then I think about where the heck was he during the storm that he’s still alive and able to render aid to others!? This is incredible 18:22 listen, I know VERY well the feeling of just NEEDING to place blame wherever you can in your emotions and illogical brain when losing someone and you’re so grief stricken and you are so desperate to find a reason why. But I also know, that’s a part of grief many people go through but it doesn’t make it right. With the story up to this point, I don’t think anyone did any wrong. They went out for an adventure. And adventure they did. They all made group decisions together, while the twins were younger, they’re all still of an age that they can make choices for themselves. This is a “freak accident “ no one did any harm to anyone else, no. Mother Nature just did what she does unbeknownst to the group here… so I don’t think that’s fair at all to blame them… and this doesn’t come from a place of judgement. The opposite is true. I’ve lost SO many people SO close to me in the last… 3 years. And a majority of them being within this year.

Common sense cannot be taught. You either have it or you don’t. Not sure why they call it common sense though, as it’s not very common. From my experience as a business owner with over 1000 employees over 15 years I’ve learned that only about 5% of people have common sense. Without it, don’t go camping, hiking or anywhere you could find yourself in a jam. If you can’t light a fire while it’s raining, then you likely can’t do or wouldn’t think to do many things needed in survival situations so you should probably stay at home. The kind of knowledge you need to survive without all the modern necessities cannot be taught as different problems will arise everytime you go out. The common sense needed to survive if we were sent back to the Stone Age has to be bread into you. Most people hit a wall, then give up and die because they assume the problem they face is impossible to overcome without the proper tools. Anything can be accomplished many different ways. There are no walls. Don’t give up and keep trying different things until your problem is solved. Then move on to your next problem. Mankind has made it hundreds of thousands of years because of the ones that were forced to think. Forced to think out solutions to every problem. The more problems you solve, the smarter you get. Then the day came when technology made us stupid. Everything was done with the press of a button. People no longer had to think, so didn’t. They had kids, and those kids had more kids. Many years later only a few of us are left with the thinking brain. The problem solving brain, because we came from poor families that had to think to survive. When that’s taken away from us, we become a zombie race. Leave your computers and microwave ovens at home and make a point to spend as much time as possible in the mountains, living off the land, passing that knowledge down yo your children and your bloodline will make it through the next apocalyptic event. The next great re-start. There’s a reason God wipes 90+ % of life out every few thousand years. To wipe the dummies out and allow the better blood lines to survive and continue repopulating the earth. There’s another one coming soon folks so I suggest you dig deep and prepare for anything and everything and see if you have what it goes to think, rather than know. There’s 2 kinds of people. Those that read books, learn and apply that knowledge to life. Then there’s those that can’t afford a book so troubleshoot and figure the problems out themselves through trial and error. Those are the ones that will survive. Because at the end of the day group A only knows what they read, group B knows everything.

I'm not happy with the conclusion of the quarter back. He told his wife 2 men were following him. He just laid down and drowned on his vomit huh? How many times has that happened in this world? They should've stopped everyone from even getting close to the body and had some professionals check it for any tracks near the body or around the area, even following his by back tracking. He was found quickly, all of this could've been done just to be sure of no foul play, another thing that I find peculiar is his wife dropped him off his wife was the last to speak with him, and his wife is who found him, along with his wife said he had a drug problem. Prime suspect is the wife. What were her activities before and after his death
