Come behind-the-scenes on a Vanity Fair style portrait photoshoot using only 3 speedlites and an Avezano fabric backdrop in my home portrait studio! I’ll show you how I set up the backdrop, style my model, set-up my speedlites, the photoshoot and my basic editing workflow. You know Canon has a new speedlight. The EL-1. There’s just no reliable customer service with Godox. I can’t seem to duplicate the problem you’re having with my 600’s I pulled them out off the shelf to do a shoot with them and they still perform just as advertised. I retired mine in favor of Profoto A10’s. Like Canon Profoto has great customer service.

I purchased the same background as in this video...thank you. I had not heard of AVEZANO BACKDROPS before today. I've been using some pretty boring backgrounds lately, and some were things I should never have chosen to buy in the first place. I'm really looking forward to using this grey one!!! Very good details on how you got the photo. Excellent instructions in your video. Thirty stuff looked gr8. The photo was lovely. I personally would add a speed lite and a snoot just to give the face a kick. But that is just my style. Really fantastic photo and video. Cheers for that making this for people to learn.

Really interesting video on lighting and how you incorporate pets. It's way easier to photograph your own dog if you train it with the shutter. My dog will literally just sit in what spot I put her in and look straight at the camera now because she knows treats come next (bit harder when it's a client's dog that has no clue what's going on).

When you mentioned that you we’re getting interference from your neighborhood affecting the communication with your Canon Speedlight, did you try changing the channel? The channels goes up to 99 I believe. You can just change the channel. No need to add Godox receivers and triggers

Hi Greg, thank you for the feedback :) The Canon 600EX speedlites have 15 channels and I tried all of them many times. Occasionally I would find a channel that would work and then I would lose it in the middle of a photoshoot which was super frustrating. I searched online and found others with similar issues. After talking with a customer service rep at b&h photo/video, I decided to give the Godox set a try. They have 32 channels and have been 100% reliable so far…fingers crossed :) I would love it if there are additional solutions I haven’t tried to make the canon trigger work reliably! It was working great for me for several years.
