⭐ About Travel Beans:
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. If you enjoy this kind of content we'd recommend checking out our Italy Road Trip series, USA vanlife series and our Japan in a Tiny Van series as well as our UK vanlife content.
Our time spent overcoming depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. We love sharing the highs and lows of our trips through our videos and hope to spread a little positivity and light to all of the beautiful people who take the time to tune in and watch each week!

Actually, the Cliff Dwellings USED to be a REALLY neat place to visit back in the day. When I was a little girl my grandparents would take me there (mid-1980s) and it was NOT what it is like today. Back then you didn't have to pay to go see them, they hadn't been ruined by someone else's ideal of what they thought they should look like, and they didn't have the other touristy crud there. I was livid when I took my own kids there once thinking they would get the same experience that I did, and saw THAT.🤬🤬🤬🤬 There was nothing on the front, it was open and you could see the various rooms and use your imagination as to what they were used for.

Now, you guys - including Noah - can LEGALLY use the term "This ain't my 1st rodeo!"!!! And, Emma, that line on exiting the fake museum, "Well, THAT was shit!" was absolutely PRICELESS!!! I CAN'T believe you actually jumped into a CANYON... are you MAD?!?! Your "buddy", though, was hysterical!! I loved him! And, I can't say goodbye for awhile without commenting on just how ADORABLE Master Noah is, and what fun it's been to watch him in your arms watching EVERYTHING around him!! Please don't be gone too long!! I NEED my Beans fix!! Even in Portugal!! ENJOY!!!

When my brother, sister-in-law and their son joined me on a holiday in the US in the mid 90's and we went to Bryce Canyon and they had a small rodeo there we had never been to one before so we couldn’t miss this, it was just across the road from the hotel. At one point they had children Mutton Busting the sheep. Great laugh and experience.

As an American I also find rodeos disturbing. They do seem cruel to the cattle. As an Iowa farm who raises cattle I'd never do that to our calves. Safe travel across the pond.

Yea, it's kinda like bullfighting but on a lesser scale. Unnecessary cruelty to the animals. If you want to show off your lassoing skills, do it on a fake steer or something.

@@nanachick05 No, being lassoed round the neck and having the rope pulled tight, nah that wouldn't hurt at all. Maybe you should get someone to do it to you, see how you like it. Also terrorising them by chasing them on horses, that's fine isn't it.?🙄

Started watching after seeing you with @TheNewbys Wednesday. Watched a few of your recent Portugal videos and then had to see your Colorado trip. I’m a Colorado native and haven’t been to many of the places you visited. I live about 20 minutes from Red Rocks in Littleton. I was born in Pueblo. I’ve lived here most of my 73 years, except for a year in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and 3 years in Scottsdale, Arizona. Colorado weather changes in an instant sometimes. You have to be prepared for anything especially in the mountains. Emma, I am so impressed that you drove The Million Dollar Highway. I lived in the mountains for years and still hate roads that drop off like that. Alex your wilderness experience wasn’t a failure by any means of the imagination. You’re a smart man not going it alone. Think grizzly bears every time you question yourself. Seeing the dead bear was a sign of your own bravery and ability to survive. He didn’t. I’m a fan now and will be binging your channel to watch the past episodes. I envy your move to Portugal. Wish I was younger and healthier, I’d move there too. Hugs to baby Noah.❤

I'd suggest trying a rodeo again, as there's much more than the team roping event. It is a competition, whether little kids riding sheep, barrel racing, roping or bronco or bull riding. Keep in mind that roping was needed to secure calves and keep them safe. They aren't strangled, and while it may not be fun for them, they aren't harmed and are promptly released. The horses are also trained to assist.

If your travels ever take you to Oregon, I think you would absolutely LOVE The Columbia River gorge outside of Portland. There is an old scenic highway , built in the era of Model A Ford's (1930's) where there are numerous waterfalls, the most famous, also accessable by freeway being Multnomah Falls. The others along the old highway are much more secluded, where you can hike through lush forests.. so breathtakinly beautifull peaceful, and serene.. the waterfalls .. spectacular. .. Sometimes you may encounter other hikers, but most of the time you'll be the only ones
