….It is a pity the great EB suffered so early from illness. People have been listening in awe to this unique artist with a voice so full of power and richness over the entire vast range. Mi piace moltissimo

Have you personally ever heard a more suave man's voice than Ettore's at 2:00? I had to replay that part, it felt beyond human.

Basta dire Ettore Bastianini, cioè il più grande baritono , perché ogni altro aggettivo non può essere sufficiente.

Two pities: First, Corelli did not sing Otello. Second, Bastianini sang Iago once but without even a photo.

I'm uploading Corelli's "Ni un mi tema" for tomorrow. Corelli would have been a great Otello, I understand that he had too much respect for Del Monaco's Otello, unsurpassed.

@Barone Vitellio Scarpia È un vero peccato. Se mettiamo Del Monaco come Otello, Bastianini come Iago e la Tebaldi come Desdemona secondo me esce il miglior Otello di sempre...

@@esterbruno8604 questo sarebbe stato il cast scelto da von Karajan per l'incisione di Otello, mai portata a termine da bastianini che-non si sa in realtà per quali motivi- venne protestato dal Direttore...e abbiamo così perso un Otello immortale! Di quello del Teatro Reale del Cairo nel 1965 abbiamo solo una breve nota di recensione...non una foto e tanto meno una registrazione!

Herbert von Karajan had to replace Bastianini with Aldo Protti during recording Otello in 1962, with del Monaco and Tebaldi. I heard couple of reason why Karajan was forced to do that. Obviously the Jago role did not fit to Ettore character...

I don't think there's such thing as the best ever and ppl who say that have to stop. It's "one of the best ever". But I wouldn't give him that. I've never heard of this guy.
