those initial bass drums and guitar growing, growing.... reminds me of Portal and then it gets the RoB unique treatment with clean, tight, metronomic rythm and melody...

what is this song about? I'd like to think the lyrics describe a sacrificial ritual of some sort from the victim's perspective.

It's a eerie/ raw way of describing a person undergoing a shamanic transformation/ enlightenment. His blood burns painfully and once he starts the exuvia/ rebirth process, it's frightening and reveals their past comforting life to have been in blissful ignorance of the frightening truth Gaia protected him from. Pale Wolves of Pythia is about another painful shamanic transformation, but with Zeus instead of Gaia.
