After much thought we downsized to a Vantage Neo Motorhome rear lounge layout from an 8 meter swift bolero fixed single beds layout

Hello Mike and Kirsty Your at our favourite site Pinewoods aren't you. Lovely layout just like our Autotrail apache 634u lowline, you know the one you reviewed and we brought one the day after, we had a Bolero before and couldn't live with the layout and the mechanical and electrical issues . We looked at motorhomes with ready-made beds and the compromise was the space, it takes 5 minutes to make up the pull out bed, we love the layout. Enjoy every moment in your new pride and joy and we're forever grateful for introducing us to Pinewoods. Love Paul and Alison

hi paul / alison , yes it was pinewoods ! they decided to open it for the winter all except the facilities, but through lack of bookings , they have now decided close it until march , we are loving the rear lounge layout it’s what we always wanted , and as you say not much effort to make up the beds , we are slowly getting used to it all , thanks for watching the video all the best mike & kirsty

You've done well I think :)

Hi Mike and Kirsty. After seeing this vlog, I'll back track a bit.🤔 Like the layout, bit tight in the middle. With Kirsty on the wash room, just a matter of getting used too. As for making the bed up, no problem there we have always done that. Gives you more usable room. Lots of storage and well thought out. Think all 4 of you are going to enjoy it. Well done mucker and look after yourselves. Pete and Su.

Oh on a vlog you done a while back you showed a 500w small radiator you use , well I bought that exact one and i just used it in Scotland the last week in October and it worked a treat.

Very nice van. Personally I love this layout. I'm getting my first Van conversion in 4 weeks time from Autotrail. Been waiting a while for this. It's only the 6m van on the new Ducato version 8 chassis not a wrap at the back but 2 long 1.91 metre beds or one very big double so no transverse sleeping in a ball. I'm sure you will love it more every trip and be happier with the manoeuvrability and ease of parking even in a supermarket. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.

Hi Mike and Kirsty, I do hope you enjoy your new Vantage Neo, I know that the conversion is well made and the carpentry and woodwork is brilliant, I have a Vantage Vue, the same year as yours, mine being the centre lounge, a word of warning regarding keeping your bedding above the cab though, it's fine during the warmer weather, but if the weather is cold and your not using the van say during January to March it can promote mildew, I had a pillow stowed up there in mine and it ruined it. Anyway I hope you have some great outings you and the dogs. Cheers Alan.

We have recently bought an Autotrail 635 Sport which, as you know, has a very similar layout. We love the U-shaped lounge and the kitchen area is great too. However, like you, when we first bought the van we were always banging our heads when moving in and out of the cab area - got used to it now though - we'd rather have the storage area than the panoramic roof! No regrets - love the van conversion - in my opinion its much more versatile than a big coach built motorhome

A really lovely van ,I think you both made a good choice. Kirsty is right when she said the whole van is being used, to my mind fixed beds or bed is dead space two thirds of the day . I'm looking forward to see you both on your travels. Would you now consider getting an awning just to give you extra space? Wish you lots of fun and enjoyable memories. Take care Wend and Rog.
@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel2 жыл бұрын
hi wend / rog , yes always a compromise no matter what layout , we have been looking at drive away awnings and utility tents and can’t decide which way to go , the tent to chuck odds and sods in or the full awning as extra living space , thanks for watching the video and commenting and hopefully we’ll have lots more content to bring you from the new van all the best mike & kirsty

Lovely van,bet less stressful to get about in. We've just downsized from a 6m ducato to a 5.4m...just hope we haven't shrunk too much,to be fair it's the width more than the length that makes for an easier drive.Enjoy.
@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel2 жыл бұрын
thanks guys yes much easier to manage than the 8m swift , we did consider a 6m van conversion but would have been too much of a jump i think , although we are now getting used to the 6.4m one and enjoying it , in your new one you can literally park up anywhere ! totally agree with the width , that’s what i’m noticing the most , no more holding my breath to oncoming traffic on narrow lanes , thanks for watching the video all the best mike & kirsty

Yes, I struggle with cleaning the Kon-Tiki and the shape of the kitchen. The table is a pain too. We're not ready for down sizing yet, but we'd definitely look at rear lounges. Ironically a lot of the Bailey appeals to us, apart from the drop down bed. We will be doing a two year review soon.

That is a really lovely van and your fridge is so much better than Madge’s. I love the rear lounge (Madge has a rear lounge but the seats are much shorter). The kitchen worktop space is making me green with envy 😂. Sadly it is not suitable for us as we like having 4 belted seats for day trips or holidays with our family. (We have an air awning with 2 double bedroom annexes for our grown up children and partners). We call the man cupboard “The really useful drawer” we also have one in the house where Steve puts his stuff. I bought 2 big cooler seats over 15 years ago when we were still tent camping. I paid £9.99 each and Steve thought we would never use them. We take them on every holiday. They are a seat with a cooler lining that collapse. We use them to carry things into Madge each 2ltr bottles of pop and they go behind the drivers seat until we arrive on a site. We then use them as our bins normal and recycling. We store them between the driver and passenger seat so as not to trip over them. We sit on them when we use the tapenyaki or BBQ. As I have arthritis I also use them with my camping chair as a footstool. Take care Gill

Can i ask what you are doing for bedding in the Neo? Are you fitting a fitted sheet each night, rolling out something or using duvalays? Thanks!
@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel Жыл бұрын
Hi yes we have a large fleece throw we lay on top of , then a thin single duvet each & that’s it , very quick to make it up & all stored above the cab , we set the thermostat to about 18 and usually find that’s plenty enough to keep warm , back doors are fully insulated with vantage vans & we’ve never been cold

All valid reasons to downsize, we’re looking for a 2 berth caravan & the smaller the better.

sometimes smaller does work , the more space we have , the more we tend to fill it , we are slowly getting used to it thanks for watching the video

I have a Bailey 816 with front and rear u shape lounge and drop down bed but make the rear lounge into a bed easier than the drop down bed
@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel2 жыл бұрын
that’s interesting to know as i get a few people ask me about drop down beds vs making a bed up

@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel as you said, there’s no wasted space. I’ve always steered away from separate lounge/bedroom as you can only be in one place at a time. Would be good to catch up with you sometime to compare notes. As you may know we are in Felixstowe and my motorhome is adapted for my wheelchair

@@RohanTheBT yes i remember you saying a while back, we are not too far from felixstowe about an hour , no doubt we’ll bump into each other at some stage and have a chat
