Eric’s humility is amazing, notice how JJ Cale indicated for Eric to come up to the front of the stage and Eric just smiled and shook his head, happy for JJ to have the spot light. He is so respectful of all his guests that way.

All the greats have humility because they already have reached the top or near it.... it is wonderful. I am a guitar player for about 45 years.... Studio One Doraville Ga..... roots. Funny story... one time a member of the Georgia Satellites walked into a club and I asked him, "hey, aren't you the guy from the Black Crowes's? (I attended the rival Lassiter HS, they were from Walton.... later I attended the same schools as Peter Buck)... he replies "NO, The GA Sattellites"... Till this day I laugh

I used to play pool with Eric in Antigua I worked as a Chef at the Copper and Lumber Store. Pool was played At Dougie's place after hours. Eric had been sober for a bit. I wasn't. One of my best memories. We played 3 x. I won once. I'm sober 30 plus years now. Eric was a big influence in my early sobriety. God bless you.

Richard, a long time ago, I flew to Antigua from NYC for the "Around the Island" sailboat race; don't know if it's still going. When I boarded the plane, I saw Eric sitting in first class. I asked the stewardess if that was him, and she responded yes. I thought nothing of it and, at the time, didn't know anything about Dougie's or that Eric had a rehab facility on the island. After hearing about Dougie's and that he was a regular, I decided to visit. One evening, I walked up the stairs and saw a few pool tables off to the right. I wrote my name on the chalkboard against the back wall and waited for my turn. I didn't even notice he was in there playing pool. I ended up playing against him, and won! He was such a kind, mild mannered guy. No ego whatsoever. He introduced himself as Eric, and that was it.

Thanks guys for your comments in support of my stance. This Country is going to shit because of those idiots from the unknowing, welfare state, that the protected, generation voted into power. It's time for a complete change of ALL the uneducated, unqualified, OVERPAID powerbrokers who mis-run our country. Kick them out, replace them with Veterans and/or straight thinking un-woke mature STRAIGHT normal biological thinking people, who have a lifetime of real experience of what this changing PC "Wokeness" is doing to our Country. Time to stop the rot and destruction before it's too late. I have 3 straight adult children, 5 straight adolescent Grandchildren and 2 straight Great Children. I love them all dearly and we are a strong family unit. However I fear greatly for their future with these idiot left wing morons forcing their "woke" ideology" and rubbish PC down their/our throats. My Grandfather (crippled by German machine gunfire in the German Spring offensive of 1918) WW1 and my Father WW2 (radio operator on board HMS Hardy torpedoed off Murmansk on Atlantic Convoy duty 1943) will be turning in their graves over the end results that they offered, suffered and offered their all for. As a 74-year-old Vietnam Veteran, I refuse to die despite many years of illness, because I want to live to see the day these loonie lefties and their stupid policies are completely destroyed, as being unworkable, destructive to our Country and the way of life so many offered and so many gave their all in defence of. That I may die with the knowledge that my entire family will grow up in a normal, straight-thinking Man (Male of the species) & Women (Female of the species) un-woke, free, sane world in which to live their lives. I am totally pissed with every one of these uneducated, underqualified, overpaid cretins run this country. Wake up Australia, before it's too late. Let's band together stronger than ever and keep up the good fight!!! Paul Martino Conscript Sapper Vietnam Veteran 1970/71

The modern guitarists should take a lesson or two from these legends...optimal play is what creates the melody..not diluting the song with endless riffs....grammatically correct tones..just a piece of pure art manifesting in the form of music ❤❤

King of The Tulsa Blues. Thank you Mr. J.J. Cale. Eric Clapton`s very own hero. How happy is ol` slow hand on this stage with these musical genius`s playing this perfect boogie/blues rift, just perfect for Clapton to shine. J.J. Pure music magic of the highest order in any genre or any time.

@@michaeloneill1763 It's definitively a quote to PAUZE and think about. I more than just admire B.B.King (and experienced him live) and I could never hold a candle to his art. BUT may I - in all modesty - suggest, that 'Notes matter' AS WELL AS 'the spaces inbetween' ? What is your opinion on this 'modulation', Mr. Michael O'Neill, and do you think Mr. B.B.King would be prepared to, let's say, not totally reject this notion ? Michael W Dell
@michaeloneill1763
@michaeloneill1763 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaeldell2349 If B.B. King rejected that notion he'd be out of work, but he knows where to leave the spaces in between. So many rock guitarists are praised because they can cram in as many notes as possible in one bar of music, but a real musician plays with emotional intensity and heartfelt timing. B.B. is so good at that.

The best point in this video is, the body language! The look of the human feeling of respect and appreciation between each of the musicians on stage it is fabulous for my emotion. The ground thinking of JJ, the pleasure of Eric C to share this moment with him, the smile of satisfaction of Christine looking the appreciation of his man to in the happiness, the bassman Rosenberger, quiet but him too sharing his good feeling. This is a beautyfull video of JJ Cale that I like like the live itself. This is the expression of the real sens of the live, friendship, respect and attention to the others. As patty got into high school I got ahold of Burden and the Animals. Starting to get interesting. Brother Joe began getting high so found Airplane, Hendrick and such. Southern rock beginning to become a thing.one of those things became my fav, JJ Cale. Remained so for life. Damn was he cool. So fing smooth. Everything he did seemed effortless. And the music so different ! I couldn't turn it off. JJ definitely in heaven. Hell couldn't let him in. He would have caused the fires to go out. He was just that damn COOL!!! Still that damn COOL! I'll be cranking him up forever. Well till hell calls me home. Pretty sure they'll let me in!! I¡ Not that cool and I've spent last 50 years busting my ass to earn my ticket.

This was a day God must have felt smug to have created. KZfaq has its downsides, but gotta thank it exists for curating such great performances. I love JJ, I love Clapton, I love how Clapton honors JJ's legacy; he's told numerous times that JJ is his hero. It's a shame these two didn't collaborate more and now the chance is gone. JJ's bassist “Bill” Raffensperger, the big guy with the great 'stache, passed away before he did; he was the kind of guy who'd keep the beat even if someone lobbed a grenade on the stage, and I believe he was responsible for the laid-back attitude of the whole band, he's always barely discernibly behind the beat. Christine Lakeland is the one enjoying herself the most in this instance. She is a very good musician on her own and on that day she had her husband on center stage and they were all jamming with Clapton. Funny story: JJ played a bar next night, and while full, the bar had less than a hundred patrons. JJ came on stage and joked: yesterday, we practiced at the Crossroads Festival for you.
