Valhalla no she isn't
@valhalla12406 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying there's nothing about her. But I've been disappointed by her performances in the past years over and over again. In Brimstone she played a mute woman, which means you need a more expressive face or the performance falls flat. She didn't show any of that. And currently I'm watching The Alienist and it's the same thing. Right in her first scenes she gets disrespected by men for working in a male profession as a woman and there is almost nothing happening in her face. She just doesn't show the complexity of emotions I'd wish to see. She chooses good roles, but she doesn't deliver and I'm tired of watching her. Compare that to a young Kate Winslet, or to Saoirse Ronan, she just can't hold a candle to them.
@valhalla12406 жыл бұрын
compare for example this camera test from a young Kate Winslet (she tells an entire story about herself with her face): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNFdgr2azsDXY6M.html to this performance by Dakota in Brimstone: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grWnh9qox5fKYZc.html while I think the beginning was quite good (the subtle flickering of the eyelids when she reckognizes the voice), the second part is really quite underwhelming. She just takes a seat and grabs the girl next to her in a protective manner. Without the camera-zoom this scene had zero effect. Just in case you haven't seen the film: the man who's speaking is her father who sexually assaulted her as a kid and caused her mother's suicide. So the fact that she's merely taking a seat with her eyes wide open, showing her face and everything, not even trying to look for a way out or look away so he won't reckognize her, is super unrealistic. Idk maybe it was bad directing also, but if you compare her to Kate I don't think she is that good...

Yes. And being there on set for your children can help prevents molestation of child actors/actresses.
@GenevaPilgrim5 жыл бұрын
@@lovelesssevensins6014 I'm not sure how parents are even leaving their children on set because legally any child under 18 is required to have a parent on set according to Sag/Aftra rules. SOmetimes what happens is that directors, producers and those that want to prey on children earn the trust of the parents over time on the set and then they invite the kids to a party at their house or something where there are other people there too, but they find a way to corner the child or teen off by themselves during the party. I don't think these Sag rules were in force in the 80's and 90's but were put in place to protect children after so many reports of bad behavior.
@californialinchen5 жыл бұрын
I've asked myself a million times what her parents are like. I would really like to talk to them for ten minutes before I have children of my own one day. Not to bring my kids into show business but just so I don't screw it up.

I feel like I haven't seen a Dakota interview in a decade. Young Actors who say that acting was practically a hobby to them until they grew up and they went home and had a normal life always appear calm, settled and well rounded. You know they mean it because they'd let their kids do it. Ppl with opposite experiences always say something like, "No, I hope they never want to be actors, if they do, they have to wait until their 18." Love that Dakota's mom went with her everywhere and Dakota's like, I wouldn't just send my kid off to a set by themselves." That's good parenting. They're parents did well. Shoot, you need to be there. I also feel her on, but can I be selfless and give up my career lol. I feel like they transitioned into adult roles easily because even though their roles weren't "too grown" they were always in mature movies and often played mature characters. They didn't get stuck in like a Disney bubble or anything. They were just children who grew into talented adults. Also, Didn't realize we were so close in age.
