"Dark Country 2" is a collaborative compilation (second of four) by various artists, published by the Extreme Music label. It's guitar-heavy country with a dark(er) twist.
I've decided to put up this album because it's simply great music that I personally enjoy. The original audio quality of the uploaded file is 128 kbps MP3. The whole album (and many others) are available for free streaming on Extreme Music's official site in even higher bitrates (links below).
Why upload something that's already available elsewhere? Well, KZfaq is extremely popular, and usually the #1 stop for all music searches. My wish is simply for this music to become as widely available as possible.
No copyright infringement intended. If the copyright holder(s) want this removed, contact me and I'll take the video down immediately.
All music and art (c) by the respective musicians and Extreme Music.
Tracklist:
00:00 Blues Saraceno - The Bible and the Gun
04:00 Tombstone Three - The Devil Rides Out
07:40 Blues Saraceno - Carry Me Back Home
10:59 Danny Farrant & Paul Rawson - Motherless Child
15:05 Blues Saraceno - Blood to Spill
18:20 Nick Nolan - Devil Gets Your Soul
21:52 Nick Nolan - Dead and Gone
25:22 Cut One - Nowhere You Belong
29:07 Danny Farrant & Paul Rawson - In the Pines

That, I would say, is due in majority to the subgenre they belong to: Dark Country. It's characterized by darker, grittier acoustic processions and more grim themes, rather than the usual pandering of typical country music that more aims to just repeat the same few subjects that tend to be popular in more cliche southern areas: trucks, hunting, grills, being white, sports, cheating on your wife, etc. I say this being someone who's exclusively lived in those areas, I have every right.

Ha! Well, you're half right. I did not come this far to give up now. That's true. But that does *not* mean everything is gonna be alright. Trying to dig a hole in the ocean with a shovel is futile. But it doesn't mean i get to stop trying. Life is difficult, short, and ultimately unimportant. That is true of everyone. And plenty of men greater than I have been laid low by adversity. But if I am to meet adveristy, and if it IS to get the better of me, which in all likelihood is the case, i want to look in the mirror, and I want to see plenty of fight left. Tired, maybe, but not beaten. It isn't going to be alright. it is going to be awful. On a large scale, and within my own personal microcosm. It may even cost me any chance of a future I've ever had. Time to roll up the sleeves and get stuck in.

Custom agent told me I was he knew a whole lotta trouble, and as I left, as I burnt what was in my way to get on home, the embassy escorted me to my egress, and there smiling wide, the custom agent such the same, with his ragga laugh and cheshire grin, he said, "told you you was trouble coming in. Now leave this place, and do not return." Said he'd been to the USA in Jackson, New Jersey with his family on a tour discount trip to see Great Adventure, loved the safari. I killed a 12 foot anaconda, there, cut off his head with machete and had it made to a purse for my wild woman then Sioux, was buried with her dark soul coz I lost my most beloved and she kissed me, lasting mist of her love, last a few more minutes and gone. I burned the house down. She said it was like drowning in an ocean of the blackest oil, can't see the surface to swim up to life, and we lost such a fine woman, maybe the last I'll love in this life. I roll and I tumble, I roll and I rock... " THY KINGDOM COME 2: “CRY HAVOC”… " Been death in dark places. Seen the death in their faces. Nobody really wants to serve. Yet life is relentless and fast around the curves. Sooner dead than gone. Rather slay the king than play the pawn. It is the humans howling downtown tonight. Burnt embers singe the amber twilight; ‘cause they suffer down in Georgetown. Thy kingdom come. Crushed under crown. Hostile goodwill; stab a scab. Run and gun for the taxi grab. Cut off the head of the ceremonial snake, & the Robb Street riots in my wake. Night burns into day. But the smoke obscures the sun. Made it to my wings and I’ll be moving on. For better or for worse, another dirty deed is done. May just be my curse, -the runaway hearse; & better dead than gone. ~ Ad Noctvrn ~ by RaVen DaWn

@Don Goble actually if you want to talk about that one then the interesting phrase is "the meek shall inherit the earth". It is a mistranslation from "the sheathed sword" rather than "meek". So it means people who have the power but choose to hold back will be the ones who thrive.

If only these were instrumental...Lyrics are always troublesome, "choose the bible or the gun"? Here's a clue that might help ya, The bible leads you to guns, war, prejudice, ignorance...how many people in history chose the bible AND the gun? How many people have died because it's so easy to choose the bible which leads to the gun. Lyrics suck.
@jochemc.6915

Don't delve so deep into it. The Bible = a religious, secluded life dedicated to God; The Gun = an outlaw life full of violence.
@deathmwauthzyx3537
@deathmwauthzyx3537 6 жыл бұрын
Well, first off I have a problem not thinking deeply and secondly it's very semantic. Your definition of "choosing God" is not at all what I would think when someone "chooses God". A secluded life dedicated to God? Are we talking about a Disney special on Monks or just the generic religious propaganda that led you to define "choosing God" as such? "Choosing God" and that being defined as a secluded life dedicated to God can really only apply to certain eastern religions. Most western religions, especially Christianity, have a direct mandate from God to do the exact opposite. God commands Christians to go out (not be secluded) and convert or spread the "Good Word", to directly not keep yourself secluded but to preach to, and convert the Gentiles. And where does that lead us? Christians, especially throughout history, have *"known"* they were right and others lived in Sin and it was their duty to convert, retake, or subjugate those who did not have those beliefs. Millions, if not billions, throughout known history and prior have probably suffered from this mentality of superiority from on high bestowed to a select, worthy few, that you must obey. After all, God commands it... Since we are specifically talking about "Choosing the Bible" and that being defined by you as a "secluded life dedicated to God" is therefore impossible and an oxymoron. If you choose the Bible and the God of that Bible you have a direct mandate from that God of your Bible to do the opposite of your definition.
@jochemc.6915
@jochemc.6915 6 жыл бұрын
It's still your choice if you choose to act on that mandate. Not every person who is religious is all nuts about it and wants to spread "God's word". In fact, most people aren't that way. Most religious people just pray to God, do some rituals and that's it. You're suggesting that a religious life automatically means spreading "God's word" by force (with the gun, for example). But the fact is that only a fraction of religious persons do bad things in the name of their religion. I understand what you're saying, but this is a song, and in a song you shouldn't look for nuances the author never intended.
@deathmwauthzyx3537
@deathmwauthzyx3537 6 жыл бұрын
A mandate is not a choice, if someone calls themselves Christian and believes the Bible as the literal word of God then they have no choice but to obey or they are disobeying a direct order from the entity that person "supposedly" worships and believes in. A Christian who picks and chooses what commandments of God to obey is no Christian at all. Anyone who had such fortitude of mind would not be a Christian and those who call themselves Christians while picking and choosing what parts of the literal word of their God to follow are nothing but "luke-warm" Christians and the Bible (to them the literal word of God....) says that God hates "luke-warm" Christians. It blows my mind that you think a devout Christian has the option to ignore what their God commands of them and still be a Christian. Yes, you can ignore what your religion tells you but how much of your religion can you ignore before you are not that religion? How much of someone's "supposed" God can be ignored by them before it's evident they have no real belief in him at all? The Bible answers these questions for them and the answer is all or nothing. We as people, or more specifically a person, can choose what to believe of course but how much meat can someone eat before they are no longer a vegetarian? If someone truly believes there is a God, they know who he is, which one he is, and he wrote a book telling them what they should do and how they should live then I fail to see how someone under those beliefs can pick and choose which parts of that God they like and then follow only those orders and ignore the rest. If you put yourself in the shoes of someone who believes in eternity, a creator and judge of the universe responsible for your eternal soul then that would easily outweigh what common sense or compassion you might exhibit otherwise. My original point was that many people, under the guise of religion, choose *both* the Bible and the gun. Sometimes it's inevitable that those who choose the Bible must choose the gun and those who choose the gun first chose the Bible. It's a dangerous slope when we remove our cognitive responsibility and place it on the altar of blind obedience in faith of a creator, often spoken through the mouth of those with a special relationship with that creator who instructs them on what he wants from them. It's a lot to ask of someone in that position, who truly believes these things and doesn't just go to church for appearances. History is riddled with great pain from multiple religions who have practiced such things. Humanity should serve humanity, should make our own laws, should think for ourselves, for better or worse because relying on a book from thousands of years ago written by men who tell you they have a direct communion with God is incredibly dangerous. It's not the people you speak of, that know it's all ridiculous and just go to church for appearances. It's the devout I worry about. And I believe you greatly underestimate how serious people take religion around the world and how it has shaped our world and our social consciousness.
