Just so you know, "Whitey", Marilyns makeup artist, taught her to put the vaseline in between her palms and Press the vaseline gently and slowly into her skin. Soap was very drying back then but i think she had dry skin naturally, and they wanted the vaseline to hydrate her skin so the makeup wouldnt crack due to all the powder they used on set. But..... they also didnt want it to melt off from the hot lights on set, by using the pressing method they got just enough vaseline onto the skin to sit beautifully under her makeup and also it wouldn't melt, move, nor darken the makeup as the day went on. I use a stick foundation from Lancome and its beautiful especially for dry skin and does pretty good hiding my rosacea. I know in her day most stick foundation was a bit greasy which is why they powdered the heck out of them. Ive seen ern westmore and how he powdered all his ladies and even in black and white you can see the powder flying off their faces but my mom said that Lanolin was used in many products and that was why. Whiteys approach with pressing on vaseline was brilliant and ensured they didnt use too much and her makeup wouldnt slide all over the face and kept the baby hairs on her cheeks plastered down.

That’s a nice hack but it could clog your pores ❤

It's non comedogenic. But definitely cleanse thoroughly before bed.

My only concern is that Vaseline is the sludge that is left in oil barrels from the oil when they empty it … petroleum right !? So it’s a carcinogen …. I used Vaseline to take off eye makeup for years - and took care of my eyelashes … kept them hydrated and shiny but the toxic trade off …hhhmmm . Maybe pressing castor oil on our faces would be the closest thing that also good for the skin? Thoughts ????

I use castor and coconut oils. Much better for the skin. Many uses for both oils

Does it cause your mascara or eyeliner to travel under your eyes? I am afraid of looking like Alice Cooper!

It doesn't! I powder my lids before mascara or eyeshadow and that helps. And I do a tiny bit of powder just under my lower lash line to prevent transferring.

My problem would be that I touch my face a bunch 😮💨
