*Summary* Flight VASP 375 was a domestic commercial route operated by Viação Aérea São Paulo (VASP) using a Boeing 737-317. On September 29, 1988, the aircraft departed Porto Velho International Airport, in Rondônia, bound for Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, with four stops at the airports of Cuiabá, Brasília, Goiânia and Belo Horizonte. In the final phase of the flight, between Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro, one of the passengers announced the hijacking of the aircraft and ordered the pilots to divert the route towards Brasília, with the aim of crashing the aircraft into the Palácio do Planalto, headquarters of the Office of the President of Brazil, due to his dissatisfaction with political actions adopted by President José Sarney. The hijacker, identified as Raimundo Nonato Alves da Conceição and who was carrying a .32 caliber revolver, killed co-pilot Salvador Evangelista with a shot in the back of the head after he tried to contact air traffic control. After the hijacker requested a new detour on the route, this time to São Paulo, the pilot performed a maneuver called "tonneau", where the aircraft performs a complete turn through its longitudinal axis, even though he was unaware of whether the aircraft could sustain such a maneuver. The decision to execute such a maneuver was made to try to unbalance the hijacker, and land at Goiânia airport, which did not happen successfully so the pilot, almost out of fuel and close to Goiânia airport, executed a spiral fall of nine thousand meters that it unbalanced and stunned the kidnapper. The hijacker, after demanding a smaller aircraft to escape, was shot three times by the elite Federal Police team, and died a few days later, a victim of sickle cell anemia. The accident, which had national and international repercussions, had its main cause attributed to the lack of security at Brazilian airports at the time, which did not have x-ray and metal detection machines. The kidnapping is the most notorious to occur in Brazil. *Context* Raimundo Nonato Alves da Conceição, from Maranhão, was born in Vitorino Freire, coming from a poor family in the interior of Pará, and had a reserved and vice-free lifestyle. He was a tractor driver for several construction companies, and even worked on construction sites for the construction company Mendes Júnior in Iraq. At the time, aged 28, he had been fired from a construction site, and found himself in a difficult situation as he was unable to find another job. At the end of the 1980s, Brazil faced a terrible economic phase with high unemployment and inflation rates. Raimundo decided to punish those who lost trouble due to the bad situation he and the country were going through: the then President of the Republic, José Sarney, launching a plane against the Palácio do Planalto, where the Presidential Office is located.

My Grandpa Called " Raimundo Nonato" was in this flight, he had 47 years on that year, hes not the hijacker, he told , he can hear " pull up!" " too low!" " sink rate" and the pilot screaming when the flight got inverted " pull! pull!, oh my! its gonna crash" in portuguese, i translated this for the united estates and english country, and the last word say by pilot when we landed was " this was the most terryfing situation i'd seen in my life."
