Me to kinda at 15 jumping off slow moving cars on back roads with friends trying to be cool like teen wolf on a few seagrams the girls got from somewhere. Ha crazy evenings on a Friday Night trying to just have dumb fun after my buddy rolled off the ground doing maybe 15 mph. My turn and just judged the whole hands first hit the ground and roll for foward. Never try what your older buddy did to make it look easy and fun Collar bone left broke into. Emergency room Surgery to grind the bone later on my left side to make it smooth through the skin. Just saying. Teen age silliness. But had a lot of fun besides that part and a few other moments. Ha life. Rockon but try to think before you do something so fuckin stupid. Ha

I actually remember staying up late to watch this when it aired. This is what MTV was supposed to be- a bridge between music, fashion, and culture. It’s just a shame that today’s version of this just doesn’t add up to the way it does in this performance. I dunno,..maybe I’m just getting old. 😕

@tyler g To be honest, I don't really know anything about Richard Patrick other than Filter having two major hits. But live, yeah, quite powerful. Oddly charming sounding parts that aren't screamed. So far from what I can tell, not a bad voice. As to Cobain being "pretty bad" that's relative. Not terrible, just not as good as most big time 90s frontmen.

This song is about R. Budd Dwyer, who was the Pennsylvania state treasurer. He was tried and found guilty of racketeering, bribery, fraud, and conspiracy. On January 22, 1987, he called a press conference where he pulled out a gun, put it in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. He died instantly as cameras rolled and people in the room screamed. At least one TV station ran the footage on their local news. Hey man...

After this line up they never sounded this good live. I've seen them three times, but I wish I saw them in this era of Filter. Fortunately, I was blessed with seeing Matt Walker play drums for The Smashing Pumpkins, also for Billy Corgan's solo Future Embrace tour, and then with Morrissey. His controlled yet explosive energy paired with his ability to "bury the click" and recreate machined rhythms in a live setting has been more than inspirational for me, and I'm certain for countless others as well. Please don't compare cheesy Linkin Park to real early-mid 90s bands. I know Chester wanted so badly to be "lumped in with the early-mid 90s." LP was a boyband, Limp Biskit type crap. Chester sure was nice enough guy, but his band was super cheesy. Now Incubus can now be lumped in with early-mid 90s bands. As can The Strokes and Silversun Pickups. If he killed himself in an attempt to be included with the greats who died young? It didn't work.

Granted, I was 7, but still - Grunge and Numetal came and went, but in their path laid the remnants of what metal used to be - the ones who were supposed to keep things going sold out *cough* Load, Reload *cough* Also, people gave a shit more than ever what clothes they were wearing - stupid ass puffy jackets, generic neon sharp shape designs on every fucking article of clothing. I love the fact that he has an arm sling and is able to preform like it's nothing. Pop singers nowadays cancel shows when they get injured or sick. I remember Dave Grohl performing with a broken leg and had a special chair made for him.

I saw Filter open for White Zombie in 1995. They were unknown. Richard came out with a cast and sat down. "We're Filter if anyone gives a shit". Sang. Got super pissed at everyone. Was pissed at the crowd because nobody was really paying attention. Threatened to stop the show about 6-7 times... then left. That's when I became a fan.

Ahhhhhh, I remember these days when musicians actually played their own instruments and wrote their own lyrics. Now we have "artists" that use ghost writers and they get way more recognition. Did we slip into a time warp or something? Makes no sense to me.
