Very amusing. This antiquated, vulgar melodrama is faintly unhealthy, but she makes it lots of fun instead of just irritating. Spasimi d'orror.

The story goes that after reading some reviews one of her friends suggested she take a break, and take a few lessons. Petrova replied "Ninety percent of people know NOTHING about opera - and the other ten percent know TOO DAMM MUCH!". A shame- her lower range isn't too bad.

In her time she was hilarious. But, sadly, today´s audiences would applaud her. Actually, I have heard quite a few Toscas on her level on the operatic stage. This is the famous "Tosca from hell", a very much sought after camp recording.

She is not half as bad as Milanov.

I heard this three week ago. It is just as bad now as it was three weeks ago. The thing that terrifies me is that she sounds like some of the singers I have heard in the last couple of years in European House, albeit in small provincial theaters and/or in eastern Europe. I must say I heard an EXCELLENT TOSCA in Belgrade just 6 months ago so who knows. But getting back to this person, NO NO NO NO. As I said before, this is very SAD.
