Live recording of Song inspired by this Sanskrit passage from the Upanishads
Featuring the wonderful Jay Vadukul on Tabla
ayaṃ banhdurayaṃ neti gaṇanā laghucetasam
udāracaritānāṃ tu vasudhaiva kuṭumbakam
Only small-minded people discriminate saying “one is a relative, one is a stranger.”
For those who live magnanimously, the entire world constitutes family.
eṣā brāmī sthitiḥ svaccā niṣkāmā vigatāmayā
ādāya viharannevaṃ saṃkaṭeṣu na muhyati
This is the status of Brahman, absolutely pure, beyond all cravings and sufferings.
Equipped thus, roaming the earth, one is not vanquished by crises.
vairāgyātpūrṇatāmeti mano naśavaśānugam
āśayā raktatāmeti śaradīva saro malam
Through detachment, one achieves perfection along the path of negation (of the object). Then the mind, emptied of all cravings is as a pure, clear lake in autumn.
Composed by Gaiea with Tabla by Jay Vadukul
