Na they're definately metalcore. They just get a lot of love from the hardcore scene. If you think about it, back in the day the metalcore scene was very closely tied to the hardcore scene, especially w bands like Converge. Vatican is kind of a return to form for metalcore. Its metallic vocals and riffs but with a very hardcore attitude and energy.
