Vaughan Gething has announced his resignation as Welsh First Minister after four members of his government stepped down in protest over his leadership.
Gething lost a vote of no confidence last month after a controversial decision to sack a minister and questions arose about donations during his Welsh Labour leadership campaign. This turmoil led to the collapse of Labour's co-operation deal with Plaid Cymru in the Senedd.
In a statement on Tuesday morning, Mr Gething said he had "taken the difficult decision to begin the process of stepping down", and will now discuss a timetable for the election of his successor.
Alex Phillips speaks with associate editor at Nation Cymru, Martin Shipton.

I am black, but as of may 2024. Rishi Sunak was the British prime minister, Humza Youssaf was the Scottish first minister and Vaughn Gething was the Welsh first minister. All three of them were not white in a predominantly white country. To make matters worse, none of them were elected. I don't know of any country on earth that would allow that, yet the British are still labelled as racist.

@curryboy-gb6qz Curry boy! Do you know Vaughn Gething migrated from Zambia, which makes him a black guy like me. I cannot defend his first ministership because in his native Zambia, Guy Scott the white man who took over as President when the black president died, couldn't be re elected because he( Guy Scott) is white. As for the BLM protest, I didn't support it because I didn't understand why the killing of a black man by a white cop in the United States would cause tension in different European countries.

The sole reason gethin was made first minster was because of his colour and virtue signalling by middle class lefties , I'd put money on it that if he'd have tried to be elected by the ordinary welsh populace , he'd have got nowhere , just goes to show how out of touch politicians of all sides are , this of course also applies to to England and Scotland. What also doesn't get mentioned here are two things. The limit members are allowed for campaign expenses is £4,000. And Gething's pal with the criminal record received a £400,000 loan from a bank owned by the Welsh Government. Then he donates exactly half to Vaughan Gething. Am I the only person who finds this very suspicious?
