I know he will eat it alive, but you should send one to lockpickinglawyer. Even though he will probably get into within a minute, if this doesn't have any major design flaws it usually shows that it isn't "easy" or obvious to open, which is what most people care about. One of his biggest gripes is when a digital lock can be bypassed by an easily pickable core, I'm sure he'd love to see it.

Depends what you are putting in it. My wife uses the stop box because she only has her firearm in it. I use the Lifepod for myself because I keep money and other valuables in it

@@TacticalAdvisor, thanks for the quick response! I've got a new baby on the way and would primarily be using it to secure my carry pistol on the nightstand. I don't necessarily need all the extra features the Lifepod has, but they're hard to pass up for just a little bit more. I might just end up grabbing one each haha [Edit: I ended up going the Lifepod route. Got one on sale for less than $100!]

Good lord. Watch video first, comment second. Yes, LPL indeed hacked a Lifepod with a fork in under a minute. However, 1) he is very experienced at picking locks, and 2) Vaultek acknowledged the vulnerability and updated their firmware immediately so that you can no longer use that exploit.

What about that external hinge? Only locks in the front..so pop the hinge out and hey free stuff!

@@willc5980, I'm sure with a hammer and a punch you could tap out the pins on the hinge and pry the lid. You could also break it open with a hammer and a wedge or some power tools. But that's not the point. This isn't supposed to be a safe. How can it be? It's not even metal aside from the locking mechanism itself. It's a lightweight, portable, pistol lockbox. Nothing more. I've got a toddler and another baby on the way. Would I trust my Lifepod to keep out a burglar or troubled teen? No. Will it work perfectly fine as a bedside "safe" for my carry pistol while my kids are still young? Without question. Could I also use it to keep a handgun secure while traveling or in a vehicle? Yup. I think many peoples' issue with this product is that they are expecting too much of it.
