I don't give a damn about interviews. I barely socialize, smile or show interest in many things, I am a self taught artist and don't need to seek validation from other people to work in their job's like normal people do because they don't know any tricks and the ability to make money on their own without having to work for anyone with anyone. I admire my own company and my comfort zone is where I demonstrate perfection when I'm working by myself. I'm not afraid of going to an interview and getting rejected or accepted I'm afraid I won't do well with people in the job and that the job doesn't pay enough and let me have time for myself whenever I want

The interviewer was the manager and she was super cool, the whole time we were just gossiping about shit that happens and has happened around the store 😂😂

I average about 2-4 interviews a week and rarely, if ever, extended a job offer. Before, I was frustrated with the job market, but now I'm completely disillusioned from it and with capitalism in general. If you want guaranteed employment for everyone, it's time to start reorganize every existing company into a workers cooperative.
@NurseNick420
@NurseNick420 6 жыл бұрын
@DarthVadent - It's been a year since your comment. Found anything yet? If you attend multiple interviews like that and no luck, it may be time to start your own business or become an independent contractor. If you're not interested in going that route then maybe examine your resume? There are companies that help you setup your resume and tell you what you were doing wrong on it. It could also be how you're presenting yourself at interviews. Or maybe you are looking for jobs that you're not really skilled in. Could be a number of things. I am frustrated with job hunting as well and I'm considering going the independent contractor route. Job hunting is very frustrating and time consuming. Especially since employers look at even the most superficial stuff.

Whenever I see a comment like this I worry. Why would you NEED to make up lies? All they want is to know about you as a professional and how it relates to the position. If you have actual work experience just pick examples that are true. Unless you did nothing at all worth mentioning then be honest.

I hate the way employers want you to brag at interviews, shake hands with strangers, maintain eye contact, smile-look interested, wear a suit, say nothing at all negative... Is it just me, or are employers looking for politicians rather than workers?

I totally agree. Part of the reason why I and so many people tend to get nervous during interviews is mainly because of how fake it is. I sometimes wonder if employers understand that the people working for them are just faking it trying to act "professional." Being "professional" is not a normal human behavior and it's really easy to see through people
@samanthasullivan2460
@samanthasullivan2460 8 жыл бұрын
+TreborHG_93 I agree. I absolutely haaatteee interviews. I feel really weird bragging about myself and I feel like the jobs just give to the pretty people anyways. I think you should have to try out for a job instead of who can brag about themselves better. I also think we should go back to apprenticeships instead of having to spend tens of thousands of dollars on an education that doesn't guarantee work. I could do any job, as long as I was trained. Most people could.
@treborhg_9381
@treborhg_9381 8 жыл бұрын
Samantha Sullivan I get what you are saying. I feel it whenever I walk into an interview and don't get the job because I just don't have the skill to brag and enlarge those skills, even though I have proven that when you let me do the job, I am as good or even better than the other candidates. I actually just had an interview a few weeks ago and I ended up getting the job. The interviewer placed more emphasis on getting to know me rather than getting me to talk about the experience that I already have on my resume.

I really hate them..probly as much as those bogus tests. Maybe if I was the kind of person that could show off my legs I would get the job ): though you have to wear pants anyway. I NEVER get a job because I can't be fake at all. I'm the type of person that if I don't like someone I will show it (the reverse as well..I can't hide crushes even when I try) If I'm depressed you will also see it which job hunting makes me depressed and a lot of people have said online that they don't hire someone who they suspect is depressed.

A long time ago, I got into an interview with a guy that actually turned ugly very quickly. This guy started out trying to catch me in a lie type of thing and very soon, it went from bad to worse. When I look back on it, I think I did the right thing by just saying "Look, if you don't want to hire me, it's fine. By the end of the day, I'll have a new job going, no matter what. Have a good one, goodbye" and then, leaving the area. Unknown to you, some people have it in for you, long before you step into that office and not much of what you're going to say, is going to make ANY difference one way or the other. In that situation, you need to focus on what's most important to you (not to them). Your TIME is extremely valuable, MUCH more than you actually think. Don't waste another precious second of it, on some corporate slug badl. Don't lose your temper (maybe a little but that's all). Don't lose your FOCUS. Just accept reality for what it is and move forward from that situation, ASAP (as soon as possible). Focus on that list you made BEFORE you headed out of the house on YOUR job hunt - and ONTO the NEXT one on your hit list. Stupid people are the gamut these days and they're everywhere. Beware. Don't let them waste your precious time. Good hunting.

"Always wear a suit". Okay, what about if you are applying for a job in construction or transportation? How about the people getting a minimum wage job in fast food or retail? I think the rule to "always" wear a suit only applies if your going for something like management, financial services or some kind of administrative or office position.
@kdammers11
@kdammers11 10 жыл бұрын
I was taught to dress one step above what the day-to-day wear is. So, for a jacket-and-tie job, a suit is appropriate; for a construction job, a decent pair of slacks and a conservative casual shirt is fitting. (This is for men; for women, mutatis mutandis.)

I don't even own any types of clothing other than Carhartt t-shirts and regular blue jeans. That's literally all I ever wear normally. Of course I only go for jobs where that's the type of clothing you wear anyway. I made it until last year at age 37 when I had my very first job interview. Before that I got jobs by knowing someone who recommended me, or randomly showing up on a jobsite to meet the boss in person. My last job I got, I called a number from a Craigslist ad, and simply told them my experience. They said to show up at such and such time, and that was that. I've had that same job for 11 years now.

I always thought interviews were silly to base someone's ability to successfully work a job by the way they can speak about themselves all grandiose like a braggart. Like you're really gonna hire someone over a conversation that sounds good to the employer.

Don't worry college grads. If you're educated and have the ability to learn new the things with genuine enthusiasm you'll be successful. Being nervous in an interview will disappear with experience. Go to interviews with the mindset that you have nothing to lose. Remember it's a two way street. Some jobs are fillled over and over because the job sucks or the boss is unpleasant. We spend a huge amount of our lives at work. Youll want to find a job that isn't a grind unless the rewards are clearly obvious. Think boot camp.

actually, that is the worst possible way, they are looking for someone who will make them the most money, which means they need the best worker, these different requirements/tips for interviews are designed to hit those points they are looking for; coming in with a suit proves you are not lazy, shaking their hand firm and introducing yourself proves you are confident, asking to sit down proves you are capable of following, if they just hire you based off of your qualifications they have a good chance of getting a bad employee, if they interview everybody and pick the one who stands out as a good employee and good worker, they get one of the bet they can.

What I've noticed is most interviews aren't as scary you make it in your mind. You want the job and obviously they want to give you a job if they called you for an interview, so if you go in there with that mindset you'll breeze through the interview, and always be honest and not scripted and you'll be fine. I'll be using my own advice very soon since I'm temporarily unemployed . Oh, and turn your cell off. LOL when she answered the phone in the interview I was like she just gave that job away to the person behind her, lol.

Rebecca J he never called me back telling I got hired. You shouldn't call a company like crazy they will no longer consider you if you do that. I called him like a week or two later that's it and he said that he hasn't hired anyone yet he still had a round of interviews. The call was weeks ago. I have applied at other places. The companies I apply for don't seem to be that desperate which makes the chances of getting a job much harder! Because when I called food lion again after a few weeks the hiring manager said the store manager just got back from vacation blah blah she said same thing last time I called her back when she called me about my application over the summer So I don't know I might just go back to school like go to college because it's getting ridiculous!

Jacqueline Cody My mother used to work at a job agency and she got people jobs by telling them to call like crazy. When you want to work for some place bad enough, you bug them and even if it comes off desperate- that just shows more incentive to hire you. I have been hired at most jobs this way- even some jobs I was waaaaay under qualified for (as of right now, I am over qualified since I have a PHD.) Remember, they only hire people who actually WANT to work there. Sadly, it's seasonal work for us right now and that's usually filled in by August or September. Good luck in whatever you choose! If you have the opportunity to skip working and go back to school- do it. But, if you really want to work, be persistent! Show you WANT that job! :)

Rebecca J well I resubmit my applications and follow up after a few days. I am just saying you shouldn't call everyday, because my dad told me what happened to the person who called everyday, and he didn't get the job. I believe it, sure it shows how much you want the job calling them, it shows how interested you are, but since he called everyday it just showed how impatient he really is! You got to remember companies are busy, that's is annoying, you shouldn't call them everyday. Kudos to you good for you glad you got the job.. but I wouldn't recommend calling them like crazy. I would be personally annoyed and not consider the person by doing that, if I was the hiring manager. I think I am doing the right thing, so I could care less what YOU think of my opinion!

Correct! I'm currently at my 12 job now and when I constantly called them 3-4 times a day, better believe they called me back! I was then able to show them that I wouldn't let them down!

Ceejhay Distor whenever I'm looking to hire someone, my biggest pet peeve is when someone tells me they have no weaknesses. What I DO like to hear is a weakness being turned into a positive or a learning tool. "Time management Is my weakness but I'm learning to delegate and prioritize my responsibilities"

Have a school interview tomorrow. If i get asked tell me about yourself, usually i shake the question away and turn the convo other way round, (my introversion as an ambivert shows) but idk what i will do at a formal interview. Give them a weird look? Aaah idk idk idk. I like to keep it personal!!!! I'm rather good at interviewing people. Not the other way round!

One good tip that really helped me land some jobs is to never EVER break eye contact, pretend you are interviewing them (size them up). Try not to blink for as long as possible, but when you do it should be used tactically to either disrupt the interviewers train of thought when they're looking skeptical, or to show surprise (When you all the sudden blink after not doing it for a long time, when it finally happens they will be drawn into that moment WEIRD but it works).

When they say "tell me about yourself" give them a quick appraisal of your professional history and what you aspire to do in the future then ask them to tell you about the company. Don't have an interview, have a conversation. You want to know about them so don't sit like a robot merely answering questions.

boomernavy, it is somewhat true that you should learn as much as you can while working in the corporate world and THEN venture out on your own and start your own business. The key to life is to follow your passion and work for YOURSELF, not a corporation. However, the corporation is a great learning place and stomping ground to get skills and procedures on how the businessworld works.....

Be genuine, show selflessness, and be comfortable. Tell very short stories instead of bullet point responses. That's what I look for in a candidate. Also, nobody is really interested in your resume... maybe some key things standout, but it's all about the person in the moment.

As a person who is a recruiter.....remember, this is an opportunity for you to find out if you're a fit for the organisation too. For example: If you're left waiting a long time after your interview was due to commence ..consider if they are showing you respect and will that apparent lack of respect translate to the work place. I recommend asking about money up front. $ paid is an indicator of the value they place on the job and the skills they require of the employee. Why shouldn't you know.
