I've owned an Ampera for 5 months and I'll never buy another car powered by a petrol or diesel engine. The best bit of the Ampera is the low speed torque. Boot it at a walking pace and it seizes you by the kidneys and you're up to 30 whilst the hot hatch behind you is still spooling up, slipping the clutch and wondering when the turbo is going to kick in.

That includes the electric mileage. I used around 25 gallons in my first 5000 miles i.e. about 200 m.p.g.

A lot of other commentators say that the engine does not TOP UP the batteries, it simply turns a generator to power the motors once you have deleted the batteries - which is it?
@synergist46234 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. If you drive up a hill with the ICE and come down in low gear the battery will fill up. Low gear increases regen. I always use L and hold mode when driving on the autobahn and my battery is always fuller than when I started.

Hybrid/electric cars are going to stay expensive for a while until they become mainstream. You could buy a BMW but you wouldn't get free car tax, no London congestion charge, 40 miles of petrol-free driving per charge, or the cudos of helping the world move to a greener alternative to motoring.

No fast charging ability, ands it incompatible with uk network chargers. Deeming it useless on long journeys

These things are seen as gimmicks, and very expensive gimmicks at that. When the price actually reflects the cost they may sell a lot more units, but as of now (2015) they don't!

err nothing about MPE. WHat is the mileage capability... fuck design.. only 4 seats?? dumb, British GAS supplies electric:-) hahaa.. You wanna save 50% on fuel currently on your car.. change to LPG, amazing value and the cost of installation pays for itself within a bout 6 months.. thus giving you half price fuel for a few years. Stop moaning start doing... Until Electric cars are better priced LPG is the only way
