Vauxhall has heavily updated its Mokka SUV, renaming it the Mokka X and giving it sharper exterior styling, a boost in interior quality and more standard equipment. The Mokka X is still some way behind its Mazda CX-3 rival for driving pleasure, and a little more expensive than the Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008. It’s still an appealing package, though, and a well designed car that’s easy to live with.

I like the styling and the new interior is spot on. I don't know why car reviewers always gripe on about 'scratchy plastics' when the car is in a mid to budget sector though.

Had one in sicily. Stylish interior, quiet and refined 1.6 diesel and nice exterior. Very economical, infotainment system worked brilliantly and lots of gadgets for money. Drove up mount etna in it in comfort. Yes not the greatest to drive and not exciting in corners but I became fond of it. Extremely popular in the UK.

Great car. I’ve just had one for about 5 weeks as a courtesy car as my car was being repaired & I was a little sad to see it go. The 1.6 Diesel engine was pokier than I thought it would be! I’d definitely buy one as my next car

Had one of these for a month as a works car, I really wasn't looking forward to it, but honestly I drove from Birmingham to Leeds and back 3 times a week and I really couldn't fault it, for the price I thought you'd do well to beat it, decent car for the price I thought.

Vauxhall Mokka... is an Opel Mokka. Opel is now owned by PSA Peugeot Citroen. I’m waiting for the Mokka to morph into a Citroen C3 Cactus.

In the USA its called Buick Encore what sucks that they don't offer diesel engine or Manuel transmission in the USA its funny cuz when I was driving this I said this car should have a Manuel option but than I research and found out that they offer Manuel and Diesel.

No, I'm not a SUV fan. The centre of gravity is too high, they either roll too much or shake your head off with stiff antiroll bars. Buy a saloon, it's cheaper, handles better, rides nicer and if you need space get the estate version. By the way, SUVs use more fuel, accelerate slower and use more fuel.

Fiat doesn't own Chevy! It owns Chrysler . It is indeed the same as the trax underneath and identical to the Buick Encore.

Correct. The Opel & Vauxhall Mokka (or Buick Encore here in the USA where I live) is basically a more upscale Chevrolet Trax. I actually own a 2015 Buick Encore myself and I prefer it over a Chevy Trax, because it’s more luxurious especially when you get the Brown Interior. (I’m not so sure if the newer Encore and Mokka has the Brown Interior, but I think Brown is the best color for the Interior of the car.) Sadly for the engine and transmission choices, the Encore doesn’t have any Diesel Engines or a Manual Transmission like the Mokka has. Instead the only choices for us Americans is as for the transmission, only the Automatic Transmission and for the engine, the 1.4 L 4 Cylinder Gas/Petrol Engine. I wish that Buick (and General Motors in general) can offer more options in those categories but otherwise, the Encore is a great daily driver, especially if you are buying your 1st car and what not.

Theweescot Also I may be American, but I know the fact that Chevy is NOT owned by Fiat. Chevy is owned by General Motors, and I think General Motors still owns liability of Vauxhall and Opel still too (even though it’s now owned by PSA Group) because most Opel and Vauxhall cars (like the Mokka/Encore) are also sold here in the USA, but as Buick products.

Daft handbrake. Too slow. The sunvisor obscures the rear view mirror. The inputs for the phone and aux are hard to access. My skoda rapid knocks spots off it. Glad when it goes back soon

40 mpg? I can't get the 1.6 CDTI to go below 57. Gear changes are easy and smooth for anyone over 17. Body roll? It's an SUV! Try braking into the corners instead of pretending you're on a BTCC race track.

The plastic trim panels which line the boot are so flimsy they constantly rattle. The access panels to the rear bulbs have tiny clips which WILL break (not might break, WILL break) when you remove the panel for bulb access, which means they rattle as well.

Greg Caesar Opel (and Vauxhall) used to be part of General Motors as far as I know, so the encore and mokka are *BASICALLY* the same car. That’s why they look so similar.

For once, forget about the camera and focus on the car like this is the first time you're in it. And do find a comfortable, graceful posture when standing. You look like you don't know what to do with your body when standing... in all of your reviews.

The SUV apocalypse is increasingly depressing. Take a perfectly good family hatchback and needlessly raise it and make it more expensive and less efficient.

I have just picked up one of these as a stand-in until my company car arrives. First impressions are pretty bad. The ride is horrible, not smooth you can feel all the poor roads bumps and potholes more than in a normal car. The visibility from everywhere is shocking. The rear window looks large but you have big headrests and big pillars which means you can't see anything and have to rely on the reversing sensors. The front pillars with the massive wing mirrors also provide poor visibility when turning out of junctions. They are not fast or even brisk I would say possibly one of the slowest cars for acceleration and struggle on the motorway being very noisy. They are more of a fashion statement that is affordable and like everything else built to fit a market sector SUV that wants everything without paying for it. Think Primark of SUV's trendy on fashion looks but lacking what you really want. DO not buy one if you want something nice, buy one if you want something that looks nice and can live with a crap ride and poor visibility. The only good thing is they have loaded the car with lots of gadgets to distract you from why you're buying a car in the first place.

Crappy looking car. Anyone else tired of these crossovers? It doesn't look rugged like a proper 4 by 4, doesn't look sleek like a saloon, not sporty like a hatchback or big enough to be a proper people carrier. It is just a sad plasticky blob for people who don't like driving.

Mokka was the worst car I’ve ever driven. Overly firm clutch, clunky gear changes and under responsive acceleration. Add to this the constant loss of connection to my smartphone from the entertainment system.
