You should NEVER put copper grease all over the rear of the pads, you should only put them on the little ends/ears as this is the part where they sit on the carrier.

I’ve never known any company to serve people as slowly as Euro car parts, does my swede in!!

Great to see a Brit doing car videos, one thing I would not personally do, is to use copper grease on the pins/sliders as it tends to gum them together after a while, I use silicone grease. Like you I have had problems with Euro Car Parts with wrong parts/sizes etc.

when you wind the brake calliper piston back in, when this forces the brake fluid back to the reservoir it does not stop when the reservoir is full, the system is vented so as not to create a vacuum, hence any excess fluid will escape out of the vent hole usually resulting in the fluid running down the inner wing/ bulkhead, if this is not then washed off it will eat into the paint then rust these items.

Hi, look up Ed China's KZfaq video on brake pad replacement. He explains why you should not use copper slip grease. It's to do with dissimilar metals, electrolysis etc and dust mixing with the grease causing ceasing up...Always a good idea to keep an idea on the brake reservoir level when pushing the pistons back 😉 Loving the videos by the way 👍 Real world repairs in a real world setting 😎

Had this a few times myself! Trouble is now that manufacturers use mandatory different parts for the same model! My astra had 2 different sizes of discs listed and God knows how many different styles of pads. Great videos as always.

I like euro car parts there great never had a wrong part with them most vauxhall have different size dics for the same model like my signum has 3 different size discs i always check the disc and pads before fitting them great video

At 18.50 the pad with the wear indicator should go on the inboard side of the disc not the outboard side. with the leading edge of the wear indicator facing the brake rotor during forward wheel rotation. Great videos and content and thank you for taking the amount of time and effort you do to produce quality content.

Glad to see that you didn't use impact wrench on the caliper carrier bolts. I had fun removing carrier bolts on a Pug 206. They loosened slightly then locked up thanks to copious use of threadlok which almost beat the breaker bar. Had to tighten them then back them off a bit more. Took ages winding them out but had I used the windy gun on them, the bolt heads would have snapped.

I had a similar problem a couple years ago with my Mk3 Avensis, which is 58 plate but a 2009 model - the year the range was released. This was an independent and they went by the car reg plate on their computer. It was when the discs were compared that we knew they were wrong. The discs were smaller and for the Mk2 Avensis. We checked the part numbers with the garage manual and back to the parts shop. The person said that licence plate is what they go by, but we told him the car is a T27 (Mk3), not the earlier T25 (Mk2) which can also have '58 plate. I now have a a list of part numbers for my car, plus the specs, to help get the right parts and save wasted journey and time. I think ECP are good and the discounts worthwhile, so long as you do your homework and use their discount codes.

Never use copper grease on the sliders as it goes hard. By the look of the black crap on the sliders someone used copper grease on them before.

I had the same problem with my front discs , but thanks to your nightmare I realised I had bought the smaller front discs from eurocarparts so I was able to go and get the larger size before starting ..... so cheers for that , .... keep up the great videos , they are brilliant for a bit of revision, before starting on my own car 👍🏻

Never really had a problem with ECP I use them quite often. Always read the fitment detail box that comes up and if in doubt measure first before ordering

Used to use Euros every day. They got new ownership a couple of years ago & it seems they went down hill fast from that point. You can tell from the staff morale things are not good. I now give my business to two or three of the smaller factors in my area & they go the extra mile to make my life easier!

never ever order anything on line from euro car parts always go to the shop and take the part with you also they will lie to you on the phone when you ask if they have a part in stock

I ordered a coil pack for my Zafira B, when I got it home and opened the box, it had a 2nd hand and what looked like a coil pack for a Corsa C in it, I rang them up straight away and explained the situation, after a bit of haggling, they delivered a new one within the hour. . Always check the box before u leave the store !

No way. I had the same problem with Euro car parts. It was 16:00 on a Sunday afternoon so I was humped. It was the first and last time I used them. Their pads were a real bad fit also. Every time you went forward to reverse the pads were moving and clucking. It was not my car so I had to buy decent pads somewhere else at my expense as I could not return the poor ones as they had been used for about 100 miles. It gives my work a bad name. The woman was not happy who's car it was. She had bought the parts herself though thank goodness. I only found this channel 3 days ago. Vids are great. So car the tranny van has been the best.

I feel your pain, Although it wasn't euro car parts, I bought a pair of discs for my Rover 75 off fleabay, stripped all mine off yesterday & then came time to fit the new discs, Opened the parcel to find they had sent the wrong discs (for a KA), As the seller was only about 15 miles away I thought I could just take them back & they would change them, Phoned them up & was told I couldn't take them back for a swap, So I asked them if they would send the correct ones,,,,,,,No was the answer & refunded me my payment instead, So now my car is sitting on axle stands until I get the chance to get the correct ones,,,,But they can get stuffed if they think I am going to pay the postage to return the wrong ones. I will sell them as my compensation!!.

Also clean the face of the hub up before you put new discs on. Also always match parts up before you fit!!

The squealing is caused by the vibrations resulting from pressure applied to the ungreased back of the pads. The grease permits them to slide around quietly as they vibrate when you step on the brake pedal. Also, don't forget to remove the cosmolene (that's what we call it here, anyway) packing grease from the discs before installing them. Otherwise, you'll put the brakes on and you'll get a nasty surprise as the vehicle keeps right on going. Not fun!

I suppose its a case of 'speak as you find' Martin. My local ECP store in Wrexham offer a pretty good service to be fair. I've bought loads of stuff off them over the years and not had to take much back because its been the wrong part. Granted, they're a long way from perfect - and the queue's to the till are always huge! - which shows how competitive/popular they are, I suppose. There are two other local car parts suppliers in my area and I usually phone all three for quotes on parts, and 9 times out of 10 ECP are the cheapest. I recently serviced a friends Zafira B (including front and rear discs/pads) and ECP were £100 cheaper for all the parts than the other two suppliers. Like I said, speak as you find :)

I fully agree with you on ECP.. I have had nothing but issues and I really don't use them much anymore.. 2 weeks for a set of wiper blades to arrive, orders being split into several packages days and days apart.. not ideal when youre trying to do a DIY service! Orders being delivered to wrong house was the most annoying.. they recently moved distribution centres and they really messed themselves up big time.

Always a pain when you have choices on the discs etc. but should be stated on the website Martin.

As other have stated ECP shows more than one size available but they do state to make sure you have the right size before ordering. On the bright side I always end up using discount codes for car clubs and they're 5 minutes down the road if they screw anything up.

great job martin, cleaning up the caliper carrier and slide pins is vital when doing pads and discs most garages tend to overlook this and just swap them out which is the main cause of one pad sticking and causing uneven wear.

Just changed discs and pads on my car , bought top notch Brembo parts, from euro parts had identical problem to video, shop assured me they where correct, they, after an activation they agreed they gave me wrong ones, what a hassle I've had.

They give me the wrong clutch kit for my focus.Did not realize till everything was stripped down.I got the comment "we don't usually make mistakes like this"Service is always slow too.Nice Rottweiler you got there.

Yes it's the exact same here in Scotland I've had nothing but problems with eurocarparts and is now why I do not use them any longer

I now always take the old part in, even with a local parts shops. I have learned the hard way, usually on a Sunday afternoon, when everything is closed and you realise you cant carry on with two left handed track rod ends.

you need to physically measure your old disc not just give your registration as theres often more than one size available- ie a 150bhp zaf will have bigger brake discs than the 120 ,but that's the least of your worries as it will probably just go up in flames anyhow..hahahaha

I’ve had a problem with euro car parts too. I got all the things to service my car and it was all successful until a few months down the line when I went to start my car and it wouldn’t start and when it did it misfired. Turned out the spark plugs I had was at fault.

Great job done just remember next time use silicon grease on the sliding pins also take the old disc with you and compare them with the new disc when you get there if you can get a lift that is that will always save you a lot of trouble.

Having serviced my own cars, vans, trucks and bikes I learned many years ago, never ever rely on the parts supplier to provide the correct item. I measure, weigh, check colour code, if you can name it, i probably do it before ordering and at the same time check with the supplier if it’s in stock and an expected date for delivery. I am a real pain in the neck to these guys but rarely do I get the wrong item, especially if I ask they check the size etc., before despatch. Just yesterday I changed the rear pads and discs on a T5, but before ordering I took the wheel off and threw a tape across. I checked with Euro and found I could buy Bosch products cheaper on line…..they arrived next day and fitted perfectly and a complimentary scented pad in the box too. Euro car parts offer these fantastic discounts, it’s bovine excrement, I just want the bottom line price and a delivery date….simple. I don’t have the time to go and collect, whilst I’m sat in a car I can be earning money. What does a joiner do, measure twice, cut once. Once the item arrives, check it again before fitting. Think outside the box and always expect others to make mistakes….because they do and it is annoying and costly.

Good practise is to always offer up the new part to the old part before fitting. At the end of the day its always extra work or legal responsibility of the fitter to make sure the part is fit for purpose. A quick check will save so much hassle and time.

Great video Martin just goes to show not all plain sailing. Just one thing caliper spring on outside sits under the the bracket not between bracket and caliper. Keep Lee locked out 6.16 he will only wind you up even more.

Hi Martin, yes your right with euro car part sort of places, but even smaller place are the same. I bought a van from a dealership professional frontage loads of newish vans, I had a few problems they were very unprofessional dealing with me and lied to me saying an injector had been fixed when it wasn't, also to top it off that complained about the vehicle I traded in I've been around car people all my life and I've never ever heard of a dealership doing that. With the 308-280 mm disks there is a general problem on the mk5 astra and mk2 zafira. I got both of the disk from the parts shop with the chassis number in my hand... I had to measure the disks manually to be sure....

Well l did not have too much trouble doing the front discs and pads...but it was quicker dismantle to whole lot..but just check on you pads... Rear ones were a bit more tricky...even resetting the hand brake... You can reduce the brake noise by simply chamfering a 45° angel on the leading edge.. It's that corner that bounces...the copper slip is like glue behind the pad...keep them steady, but you do not need much.. Well done..you seem to work on these Zafira cars...a lot Mechanic's dream... customers nightmare 😅

had problems with ecp as well as many other motor factors they never give a toss or take responsibility just cough up the difference or nothing will be done and that's what i've to face with anyways but after a few bad experiences I always always check the correct parts before purchase.

I tend to find if the pads are wearing more on one side the slider pins are sticking/sized should really check every 4/6 months to make sure there sliding as they should

Never had any issues with ECP either, and ive used them for more years than i remember. Interestingly enough, after owning a Vectra C for over 8 years, when you whipped the wheel off I recognised the Caliper as being a 302mm variant.

I've been contacted directly through EuroCarParts they asked me to make videos for them so I did just string me along the time and effort I put into the videos they are waste of time they just don't care the time in Effort I put into it and for what they did was on excusable I will never deal with them again

Had similar issues with Euro Car Parts with Brake discs and pads for my Mondeo. Also A water pump. They don't seem to give a toss. Tip for everyone, check the part before you leave the shop if possible.

Yeah gotta be careful to choose the correct size on the website, too easy to pick the cheaper option...

Afternoon Mart Great video mate , just the same happened to me regarding a oil filter for my sons corsa , they gave me the wrong one , Euro car parts are 15 miles from me and I couldn’t be bothered to drive there to replace it , so I went to my local car factors instead thinking a replacement oil filter will be twice the price of Euro car parts but sod it, anyway they gave me the correct filter and it was £2 cheaper

Nice 1 jst fitted my rear discs and pads and I havnt lock threaded them I didn't no so will do that 2moz an I agree eurocar parts are are a pain that's why I stopped buying from them good video

Missing stuff from orders, is normally a problem. I usually have to phone them up and it turns up a week later. Don't think they're bothered about small fry.

That exact mix up happened to me when I changed my front discs on my zafira.. And it was euro car parts.

I`ve just done the front discs and pads on my zaffy b Martin and the discs didn`t fall off. A hammer didnt budge them, a bigger hammer made no difference and they just laughed at the air hammer . Cutting around the edge of the hub with a one mil disc in an angle grinder finally freed them.

What a surprise !! Euro Car Parts screw up again !! They have wasted so many hours of my time and effort !! Most garages down here in the Eastbourne area won't use them anymore. You are at least lucky enough to be able to have use of another vehicle to go there and swap the parts

I got sent some cheap 10w40 when I actually purchased some better quality 5w30 from euro car parts! Similar thing you said, even the guy at the desk said the customer service is useless

Its not just England Martin, Euros are the same here in Northern Ireland . I have used the same local motor factor for 35yrs And never have any problems and when I go in they greet me by name and the service is second to none as is the banter.

Euro car parts are a waste of time, ordered A coil Pack for Vauxhall Astra and the wire plug did not fit!! Got a rear caliper for a bmw and give me the wrong side and bits missing! Anyway great video as usual! 👍

Ecp are a nightmare, inaccurate listings online, wrong parts, sometimes hardware missing, damaged packaging, poor counter service...from what I can tell they’re only interested in the telesales to trade. Personally I avoid them at all costs and go online and which half the time is no worse than ecp

Nice job, proper geeza, like your English, my teacher at college had proper old British English, when I was student learning motor vehicle repairs at college, he had 30 yeas experience.

These days i find the part and do a bit of checking with various sites including zip opel. And get the part dimensions. Then check the actual box they give you. It works for all sorts of parts. You just can't trust the euro car number plate parts matching system.

Thanks for the video I found it useful , I’ve replaced the front brakes but just wondering if replacing rear brakes do you have to do anything different?

1 thing that will make a big difference to sticking brakes, the 2 rubber sections that the pins go through, pop them out, they get rust inside that squeezes the rubber part onto the pins, making them tighter than they should be, roll some sand paper up and sand the rust out.

To be fair euro car parts does state online that your car has a few different options for parts so it's then up to you to make sure it's the right fitment. I know it's a pain if you have everything stripped down. Now I just always double check and had no issues. Euro car parts has good discounts also

Open the bleed nipple and give the fluid a clear escape and no reservoir overfill scenarios. I did what you did and the fluid came out the top with the cap ON. So, bleed nipple open and top up if needed. Removing fluid is always a pain.

I have an issue with Euro Car Parts at the moment. I ordered two anti roll bar bushes through EBay from them. It took a week for the package to arrive. When it arrived there was only one in the package. I contacted them via eBay and no answer...not sure what to do now. The only thing I can say in their favour is their parts have been generally high quality. I usually buy their more expensive option where there is a choice.

Had problems with eurocarparts. E39 engine mount i got off them was the right part number in the box but not the right part..knew to check before i left the shop as box seal was already opened. Had to re order another. Same as maf sensor..box had already been opened and not sealed like a brand new part..turned out to be faulty. Majority of parts i got had been already opened and probably returned and sold on and half of them were wrong parts and faulty. Some people who buy the new parts must clean up and stick there old one back in the box and take it back to get there money back..then euro just sell the part on again. If box looks like its been opened refuse it and ask for another as it'll be wrong or nothing but problems with it

If that's the 1.9 cdti you'll find that most of the parts are different to all the other zafira models and more expensive. I took the disks off my 1.9 cdti to put onto my 1.6 zafira and found that the disks were too big. On the plus side, the end of month sales are awesome so I got all pads and disks for less than £100 from eurocarparts
