That thing was used in shopping centre promos. It was never made to race. But he was BROKE Just amazing I was there. FUCK it was COLD Crowd were going BATSHIT every lap And sponsors worried the crowd would desert him.....pfffft. 🙄

Had the privilege of sitting in the passenger seat with Brockie in the then brand new SS VU ute at Calder. Drifting in it 180km/h sideways with him will always remain a precious memory. RIP. Holden new how to market their new vehicles back in the day

The legend of PB will live forever. I'm a Blue Oval Man through and through but Brocky was the King of Mount Panorama. I was cheering for him when he made his final attempt at a tenth Bathurst win. Sadly it was not to be. Nine Bathurst wins 72, 75, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 87. ... ... ... ... LEGEND Nine Sandown endurance wins 73, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 84. ... ... ... ... LEGEND!

In the same race we had a young Glen Seton in his Skyline doing an amazing few laps in his Skyline . That was the highlight of that race. Brock’s drive was good but there was a dry line , The topic of conversation the next day at work was Seton.

@@michaelmarshall1713 zWhat cheats . The Egenberger cars were legal . The discrepancy was a measurement on a Fibreglass guard . Remember he cheated too , getting into a second car . That at the time ( he did it twice from memory ) was the worst cheating I have seen . Brock was absolutely brilliant on his good days, probably the best driver in the country. That is All I am saying. Seton was the star of that race . I have it on DVD, it was a brilliant race.

@@beagle7622 No they were illegal and I know people who were involved in Bathurst (crew staff ) and they all have said the same to me. The fuel was illegal and the body mods as well . When they decision was made the officials were being kind . They cheated as that was the only way to beat the locals and push the Euro tarsi boxes to race . Brock was smart he cross entered his cars as per the rules and nobody else bothered to read the rule books and he did . There is more than one reason he was The King.

If not for him and Moffat and few others the ATCC would ever have become what it did and the era of Super Tourers almost ended that as well. Now look at what we have ? A Mustang and now the Camaro have buried our once great rats. Look at when The Jaguars and BMW, and even The Sierra cars arrived ? The rules were changed to entice them and it almost ruined our sport . Now it has killed it.

There is only one man, who could have got that Commodore, around that track, with those conditions on SLICK tires...and that man is Peter Brock He drove it like a rally car up the mountain....He side slipped a couple of corners for God's sake. His dry line was SO narrow down the S's, then the Dipper and Forest Elbow, he just HAD to be Peter "Pefect"

Lucky nobody protesting the Brock guards- the only commodore to run 12” tyres - mmmm . Grice and Perkins both had to be quiet as no other commodores could fit 12”” tyres . 1st edition of Bathurst 1987 yearbook has a chapter on the Mobil modified guards. And car 10 should have started in position 27 - not position 20 as only 1 driver can qualify the cars fastest time. Funny how the Sierras were 12 seconds a lap faster in this film clip

@@deanwallden297 I asked Win Percy the same thing - he said “ because he’s Peter Brock” Larry Perkins and Allan Grice were quiet vocal about not being able to legally use the same width tyres but Holden would have withdrawn any support to them or other Commodore teams. Rudi knew about the mobil cars but would not protest because he didn’t want to change his Texaco cars .

@@markjones464 35 years late that was printed in December 1987 ; by BIll Tuckey in his 1st edition. Plus it’s all fact - ask any of the Holden guys outside of car 10 & 05 why the did not run 12” tyres …..they change the rule in 1988 ; where the guards were allowed to be modified. It’s all history . Not just stated now lol. I was there in the pits - win Percy knows -he has the car 10 she’ll in England .

@@andrewphillips4897 the falcon hadnt return in 1987. Also 1987 was when they were still using the R30 skylines, they ran single turbo DOHC 4 cylinders (FJ20) and they weren't designed for racing (similarly to the commodore) unlike the r31 and r32 generations after it.

@@bgcarter1 Mike Raymond was another from Memory. Great driving here. Brock, Seton and Alan Moffat was one of the smoothest drivers. Took a trip on new tyres, came back and the three guys checked it and hardly a mark on the tread.
