I'm getting so much nostalgia from watching this video. All from the sounds, the music and the level design. Used to play Vectorman all the time as a kid, could never get past the tornado boss.

This is for Genesis? INSANE. Smoothness of animations, 3D-look, huge amounts of particles everywhere, moving backgrounds, and those flags! Holy moly. SNES doesn't even come close... Great soundtrack too! Reminds me of 90s club music.

This is funny, because Vectorman was ACTUALLY SEGA’s answer to Donkey Kong Country. And like DKC, Vectorman uses pre-rendered 3D graphics, but the cool part is that I feel Vectorman did it so much better… if not for the intrusive sound effects that overtake the music.
@DrezKill

@@AlastorAltruistGaming One of the things that pisses me off about this game is that the sound effect volume is way higher than the music volume. The player's shots are especially too loud compared to the rest of the game.

I remember looking at the amazing artwork on the game cartridge and buying it just for the artwork without much in game expectations. When I first booted up this game I was blown away by the intro screen and the music. Gameplay in itself was awesome but I used to just sit on the welcome screen jamming to the music like I’m Vectorman. The graphics, music and gameplay of this game was way ahead of both its time not just the standards of the Genesis era when it comes to 2d run and gun platformers. Once Contra made me a fan of Run and gun games, nothing really satisfied me except this game until the Metal Slug came to NeoGeo.

Absolutely not...this game plays in the crappy league with Comix Zone or BoB and all those awful action-plateformer from America : long, repetitive, with the worst level design at that time like a maze... US développers copied the Sonic games level design but it suied for SONIC not for others games. Vectorman had hundred of better games on the Genesis in front of him : Gunstar Heroes, El Viento, SoR 1/2, Castle/World of illusion, all Sonic, Flink, Lion King, Shinobi 3, Alisia Dragoon, Contra etc....

This game was on par with Nintendo games. I’m surprised it didn’t sell more
@AlastorAltruistGaming
@AlastorAltruistGaming 10 ай бұрын
That’s likely because, at the time, Donkey Kong Country was more popular & sold more units; Vectorman & Donkey Kong were fighting over who would gain popularity & a cult following, with Donkey Kong clearly being the victor. Vectorman attempted a shot at being on-par with Donkey Kong Country, as that’s where the former drew inspiration from, but in spite of a sequel, Vectorman never lived up to gaming standards or lived long-enough to see next-gen.

Many Genesis games were on par or better than Snes. It wasn't the games but the marketing what gave Nintendo the upper hand only at the end of the generation. This and Ecco among others like Ristar, Sonic 3D blast, Comix zone, Ranger X, Alien soldier, Gunstar Heroes, Contra: Hard corps, Virtua racing, Star Cruiser, Zero tolerance and many more proved what the Genesis was capable of. As a matter of fact i believe that games from both consoles could had runned in one another with some minor twitchs here and there.

I was a 90s kid who twisted elbows for my parents to get this game for my Genesis thanks to Sega's In Yo Face style marketing Watching this, while nostalgia, also notice how much intluence arcade games had on developers. Mainly how only strat for each type of baddie is keep shooting. Gets kind of repetitive. But good times, otherwise
