At first, from the thumbnail, I thought it might be similar to mane'esh, but the huge amount of olive oil [not an Imam but almost fainted!] rye flakes and seeds threw me for a loop. What a culinary ride this was, and what a fascinating interview with a fascinating woman from an interesting culture! Thanks for posting!

@@UncleLousKitchen Thank you; you too! I finally got round to buying some semolina for the basbousa (after how long!), only to realise I still have loads of sticky honey apple cake and plum crumble left, so going to have to wait or my belly will burst 😁

Hello Uncle Lou! Your videos are getting better day by day! You mastered the cooking and adapting recipes from the Mediterranean region (and not only). But most important, you are showing us the diversity and the similarity that unites us, the human beings! So much warmth and authenticity. Love it. That beautiful humble lady. Me and my child, we loved the kohl (kayal) make-up demonstration. How popular that is in Morocco (I am sure you know!) Whenever she spoke in Arabic, I understood some of it, but we speak Darija at home as I lived and worked in a very conservative, but beautiful and full of warmth and respect, traditional part of Morocco. I have a question for your Q&A: if I may. I do not want to sound disrespectful, just curious- in a positive way. What language so you speak at home: with your immediate family? With us, it quite often happens that we do a language mix: start the sentence in one language, finishing it in another, but for formal and official matters: schooling, teaching, social life, it is English.

Ekaterina you legend thanks so much for the beautiful comment and for watching. Great question I'll be sure to read it out when I get round to doing the Q&A. Also my mother in law and elder family use the one from Morocco too. I'm so glad you liked it.

Excellent video Uncle Lou. Hebrew was the original language spoken by our original parents Adam and Eve and humanity until the event mentioned in Genesis chapter 11 verses 1-9 and it became the language of the Jews so does that mean that the Druzes are Jewish? because even some Jews spoke Aramaic because the Old Testament or The Hebrew Aramaic scriptures parts of it were written in Aramaic.
@UncleLousKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, great having you here as always. The Druze have their own religion but it's very secretive. There were a lot of things I wanted to ask but couldn't or had to edit out. I posted a Wikipedia article in the description so you can read more about them, they are fascinating. From my understanding it's a mix of the major religions but that's just the top level, they are mystical too and have their own belief system. Do give it a read. Thanks again for stopping by my friend. RE: Hebrew language, their native tongue is Arabic but those who have tribes in Israel speak the local language.
