People do think too much about getting good grades but u can get into good colleges with decent grades if you have done a lot of extracurricular/internship activities. Colleges want to see you experiencing new things and see that you r interested in a career. They base that off your internships and out of school activities.

I am beginning a wildlife conservation bachelor's degree program, but I'm not sure if I want to be a field wildlife biologist. Currently, I'm particularly interested in international policy aspects of wildlife conservation and efforts to prevent the illegal wildlife trade. I'm already aware that I will likely continue my education once I earn the bachelor's degree. I think it might be helpful to some if you did a video highlighting the many different conservation career paths one could possibly pursue.

Hi, Kristina, I am a masters student at the University of Michigan. I have to decide between writing a thesis or working as a student consultant for a year and a half for the city of Ann Arbor, calculating ecosystem services of protected lands. I am unsure which would be more advantageous to pursue a career in wildlife biology. I would love to know what you thought if you end up seeing this comment. Your channel is amazing btw. Thanks!
@kristina_lynn
@kristina_lynn 4 жыл бұрын
Oh that's a really hard one! Generally I recommend thesis based masters degrees but that internship sounds extremely relevant. Is there any way you can write a thesis based off the work you do with the city? That's actually what I did and the city government supported it. If not, I would consider if you want to go to a PhD/academia/research or work. If you want to pursue a career in academia, I would go with the thesis. If not, then go with the city experience.

Hi! I just finished my associates of biological sciences and always wanted to do wildlife biology/marine biology but I’m hesitant on the schooling. Most jobs require a masters I believe however, I know you didn’t receive a PhD or masters. I’m flip flopping in my head if conservation/ wildlife biology or something more medical (Sonography/ surgical tech) would be better suiting for me. I’m stuck at a crossroads and don’t know what would be a better fit for me before I start studying for my bachelors. What would you recommend for my dilemma lol?
@kristina_lynn

It’s really hard to say. How do you see your day to day life? Would you want to spend 40+ hours a week working in a medical clinic or in the lab/field/office? How much do you need job stability and how flexible is your life? Those are the questions id think about.

This isn't common sense? Seems like you can apply the same info for any profession. Go to school, go to more school, go to even more school, work for free, then hopefully you land a job. What a time we live in
