I came across zoology and wildlife biology and instantly knew I wanted to do it. I've loved animals all my life and recognized it since watching Keats creatures. I'm excited for college and to start my career, and thanks to you I'm more confident.

Wow! This video was SO helpful, I feel like framing it on my wall :) I am going into my freshmen year of college and I am interested in environmental studies, and your videos continue to be such great resources for me! I'd say one thing that helps me stand out is my versality, and ability to adapt to different working environments. At my job as a lifeguard, I am constantly assessing the safety of the club. Staying alert and respectful are a must as I am the first responder in the case of an incident, as well as the first person members interact with for any issues.

Part of our B.S. degree requirement is an internship/experiential (min. 135 hrs of work) that must be wildlife or environment-related, and nothing causes them more anxiety (understandably so). Good afternoon, I really enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot from them. I recently realized that I wanted to have purpose in my career. I am an assistant manager in retail and have been working customer service jobs since I was 15. I came to the conclusion that I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life. Coincidentally, I live nearby one of the best engineering universities in the United States. I made a decision to enroll in classes next fall. I was exploring one day on what kind of degree I would like to pursue and came across your channel. I wanted to thank you and let you know that you have given me a lot of insight on certain topics. There has always been a passion inside of me about helping animals and the environment. One of my strongest attributes would be that I am a determined, hard working individual. What sets me apart is a wide variety of skills that culminate into a valuable employee. From a degree as a petroleum technician, I have the ability to diagnose and repair nearly any type of machinery, to writing papers and giving countless speeches as a church leader in front of hundreds of people. I’ve been a business owner, worked ruthlessly under the Florida sun, supervised crews of men who were twice my age, but nothing more sets my heart at peace than the simplicity of a sunset. A backpack and a mountain, a fishing pole and a cold river, the delight of a fire and my guitar to soak up the majestic night sky, are what make life worth living. The earth is a playground, but most grow old too quickly and forget how to play.

I’m going to try to start volunteering at hopefully an animal shelter of some sort this summer. I love your videos, and thanks so much for the tips. Maybe I can even find some place to work over the summer in one of those websites. Also what makes me unique is, I’m an Eagle Scout. I think that shows that I am very good at leadership/I know a ton about the outdoors.

My unique skill that sets me apart is my compassion for igniting the love and respect towards the environment that you have to others as well. Of course I love helping animals but I also want to help others help animals too. Thanks for making this video. I think it's ridiculous that we all have to play this little game. We need to have experience to get experience... And we have to word everything on our resumes to make them sound more impressive than they are. I mean all employers had to do this too, so they know that an "effective communicator" is just a normal person trying to get hired. If they know people are going to exaggerate on their resumes then it should make it pointless to do so, and yet they still want people to do it... It's all so stupid.

So I was in the military for a few years, after that I made an attempt at my own photography business. I'm now 31 and spending all my time to focus on school. Even though I have plenty of work experience, am I hurting myself by not doing any biology related internships? Thanks for any advice and for sharing your experience!

What about internships abroad where you're really paying for the housing and meals provided? If you look into it and it's pretty reputable, that would still be valuable experience right?

Nice video. Suggestion: Maybe next time try to include mimes and sections ( listing and drawings) in your video to tell people the exact things so they don’t have to watch 17 minutes to get what they need. Because not everyone needs all the info. Also : try to elaborate and mention where to find these opportunities, actual sources. The rest, good job keep going

Hello kristina, how are you doing? i hope everything is ok around your world. i just discovered your channel twi days ago. I am Diego From Querétaro, México, 42 years old now (since july 7th), I am a professional pianist and composer, but I have been taking courses and workshops around environmental issues during all the pandemic, and this year i was planning to study the master in Sustainable Tourism, but i felt like, though anyone who is worried and interested about the planet and natural life, could enter to a master, i surely would need more than a basical knowledge to be able to study the master properly, so i am now studying online a 2.8 years career in SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ECOTOURISM.. But i´m urgent to do things and get experience to be able to work soon, and not to wait until the end of the college to start gaining real skills. I am trying my own sustainable projects in the near nieghborhoods, trying to do environmental awareness and education, in the own home, and working together all along, doing composts, eco bricks, dry or compost bathrooms/washrooms (as it is proper in canada, i know, due to the 4 weeks i was in Toronto during summer 2015), doing a community garden where they can plant and take care of vegetables and fruit trees, to be autosustainable, self ../auto consumption. I am still thinking the best strategy to convene the people around to gather so i can say the project and start working on it, together as community. And as I am a musician, i am trying to compose music with environmental lyrics to perform live along with a theatre company to act the story i am telling so we can make more visual the environmenyal issues.and record my music so people can know it and learn, and memorize the lyrics and get involved. i just started studying this past november, so i still need tw more years to finish, but i am not waiting to wrap the studies, the planet needs action now! So, these series of videos are being really comfortable and useful for me, i already watched the one for jobs with no degree. I love animals, I would love to come to canada and do any of those jobs and get some experience. so could you guide me how can i achieve the things i want and need? The job about monitoring wild life, for example, would be great. any job where i can make real difference. obviousely i need first, to get experience and learn. coudl you please guide me?
