When you stop eating animals your mind wakes up to reality of how bad it is for your body and how cruel it is for the animals.

28:42 is a good example of the difference between Vegan and Whole Foods Plant based. You can be an unhealthy Vegan who eats all the vegan junk foods liked the fried foods and fake vegan meats and cheeses or you can be Whole Foods plant based and avoid procesed foods which is what you want to aim for if you are doing it for health reasons.

To get the cholesterol and triglycerides and other numbers down quickly, cutting out the oils and overtly fatty foods drops the numbers very quickly. Personally, when I was watching what you were eating, I thought I would starve lol I eat a high starch diet thanks to the late Great Dr. John McDougall. I saw that was missing a lot from your earlier meals. Loved the video!!! Thanks for sharing 💗

That's what worked for me. I still lost weight, but I really need to. Even though I was losing weight, I never felt hungry because I was eating starches.

And he said he was going whole food plant based at the start, but he kept eating stuff like chips, bread, tortillas, etc. That isn’t whole food.

The mistake you made was not researching before diving into it, you kinda began at a disadvantage, which is realistic to how a lot of people start and it's how a lot of people initially fail the switch. The biggest issue when going vegan, at least for me, is that you have to know how to cook and flavour your food, I used to think I could cook until I decided to go vegan and all of a sudden I felt like I had to re-learn how to cook, it's easy to throw some meat on a pan and cook it, compared to cooking something like chickpeas, tofu or tempeh. Most of your meals can be "veganised", for example, a chicken wrap can be veganised using tempeh or tofu, or you can use chickpea, if you use the right seasonings you can turn a BBQ or taco chicken wrap into a BBQ or taco tempeh/tofu/chickpea wrap which can be 100% plant-based. Edit: just to note, you weren't on a "plant-based diet" You were eating out at Mcdonalds and other places and you were eating non-vegan Quorn which contains milk and eggs, which increase bad cholesterol, I would have loved to have seen you 2-3 months into a fully plant-based diet. You should've asked Paul (Hench Herbivore) for a 1-2 months meal plan and even got him to show you how to cook it, he's on a plant-based diet with no oils and that would have provided you with the best results.

Plant based eaters need to eat more often.

He said he was going whole food plant based at the start, but he kept eating stuff like chips, bread, tortillas, etc. That isn’t whole food. I think his cholesterol would have come down a lot more if he’d truly stuck to the whole plant foods.

I appreciate the video. However, I don’t think what you ate was a whole food plant based diet. That phrase gets used often, but I don’t think that a whole foods plant based diet includes oil. If you were to eliminate oil from your diet, and potentially redo your numbers, you will likely see a considerable improvement over your healthy meat based diet numbers.

It also doesn’t include all the stuff like tortillas, chips and baked goods he kept eating.

You probably should have visited a plant based dietitian prior to starting as you don’t know what you’re doing yet. Adding more starches will take your hunger away

I think vitamin B12 supplementation is a must, unless you are eating lots of B12 fortified foods. I went vegan in December of last year and saw much more dramatic improvements in LDL cholesterol. My kidney function has also improved dramatically. I must say I feel healthier too. I did it originally for health and the environment, but I have informed myself more on the meat industry and now feel I coul dnever go back to an omnivore diet. Why needlessly take animal lives just for an unhealthy meal?

It's interesting you mention kidney function. I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease 8 years ago. My GFR was 31. The doctors all said that my kidney function would continue decline, and improving my kidney function was impossible, and that even with dialysis I only had about 3 years to live. My scores continued to decline, and I was told I needed to go on dialysis. I went vegan instead. My GFR improved to 68 within 3 months. I no longer have kidney disease! Since then, there has been significant peer-reviewed studies that a whole-foods , plant-based diet (that's the way I do vegan) reverses CKD. Going PBWF saved my life.
