I almost was robbed near 4-Queen or one of those hotel. It was Christmas morning about 9 am in 1990s. We stayed in a 4 star hotel in the Strip but we went to have breakfast buffet in a downtown casino. I parked in an open parking lot 1 block from the casino. We finished breakfast and was walking back to the car. The street was deserted at that time. My wife had an expensive coat and I had a jacket. We passed 4-Queens and 2 guys (1 white and 1 black) waked out. I knew they were trouble. We kept on walking and I glanced across the street but saw the 2 guys followed close. We continued walking for another 20 feet, but I suddenly stopped and turned around. The 2 guys stopped also. I opened my jacket and reached for my off duty holster on my belt. I told my wife kept on walking to the parking lot and notified the attendant. The 2 guys saw my action, turned and walked across the street and disappeared into an alley.

I park on 9th and Fremont and have never had a problem. After 11th st it starts to get hairy.

I mean, the sad reality is that gambling is less than worthless. My cheap brain cannot fathom losing even $1 to a stupid game.

Las Vegas is just like any other city once you get outside of the tourist areas. Not shocked at all at that part of Vegas. Not sure what they're doing with the taxes from our resort fees but it ain't going into cleaning up those ran down, impoverished areas or the school system that's scraping the bottom of the barrel. I work as a home health rn and at times sent to this area and I have to say can’t stand going that way to see a patient at night

So sad to see what's happening to parts of Las Vegas. I used to go to the Bunkhouse and Atomic quite a bit, 20-plus years ago and the neighborhood wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. (although I never went North or NE of East Fremont St because that has been bad for a long time). Atomic was just a little, ancient, hole in the wall that we all loved, with cheap drinks in highball glasses and cheap beers. I hope they can revitalize the area a bit more. I've always loved the Motor Courts. Sad to see them going away, all across the country. These days when I go back to visit friends, I won't even go downtown.

Las vegas improved its livability by far compared to the late 80s and 90s it was crack/criminal central back then in those parts off town .

You might want to point out that north town is actually North Las Vegas a separate Cathy than Las Vegas. They have their own Government, fire,police an old and new part of that city.
