I honestly think he is underrated, but we Tamilians, especially the middle aged ones, usually have a habit of not praising our talents toooo much, so that they don't take it to their head. We praise them silently, so they stay grounded and keep giving us great F***ing music. Rahman was underappreciated by a lot of our people, when he started out too. Tamilnadu has presented great musical talents to Indian music like, Rahman, Ilayaraja, SPB, Janaki and Harris. I really believe that Ani will earn his place in this list soon.

Trivia - Anirudh is nephew of actor Rajanikanth's wife, and cousin to actor Dhanush's former wife(now divorced). Hence you will find that Anirudh puts extra effort for Rajanikanth's and Dhanush's movies for which he does music(almost all their movies are now done by Anirudh)
