Walk around Bismarck Fire Department’s #Velocity 100’ #AerialPlatform with Deputy Chief Brooks Martin. The Velocity custom chassis provides plenty of space of 100” wide and allows for a larger engine. EMS compartments in the crew cab are short so firefighters in the back have visibility of what is ahead. The body compartments include customized drawer slide outs for ease of equipment access. The rear of the truck holds all ground ladders and turnout gear will be stored outside of the cab. An underslung front bumper was chosen which allowed for a trash line and additional storage space.

The key element to me is how you understand the needs of the truck that you were building and what you need it for. And if you can customize that truck to where it will give you the things that you need to store the things that you have to have that's a key element.

Great looking truck, I like how you do the paint work. Also I like the layout of the compartments. The lighting is very good. I like the back-lit handles.

Too bad you guys didn’t go with the TAK4 Rear Steer! Our departments loves the TAK4 rear steer here in Florida! Though in my city of Pensacola, we mostly have rigid frame platforms, though we do have a rear steer platform coming in the future hopefully, that’s when our departments replace our platforms with newer rigs. (Though our platforms are only ten years old at least, so they are still “young”)

I’ve never seen those brackets in an SCBA seat. How do they work?

I think that they have the tank that clamps into the back of the seat with backpack straps attached to the tank. When they put it on they just put the straps on their shoulders and when they get up from the sitting position it releases from the seat.

Damn, that looks old fashioned already as new. The rigid boom on the aerial is something you haven't seen for decades in Europe. In the US it still seems to be the way to go. Wonder why. Look at the Bronto Skylifts for an example how these should be made! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMpmhtqdt5uRcac.html
