THIS. i feel the exact same way. something about the piano feels "smaller" and less grand, giving it a sorrowful feeling. it's perfect for this game

The subdued yet faster piano in comparison to the grand and poetic. Even in comparison to the IS version, this one consists of just singular fast and harsh piano strokes, while all the other versions are a lot more smooth, with more comfortable transitions into the next notes.

Considering the themes of P2, I think that it also fits a lot better.

Yeah... I mean, to be fair, the consistency of having it be the same has worked out well in some ways. Created a strong sense of familiarity, which took Igor from being your creepy ally to your creepy ally who's a total bro and gives you tons of advice and forewarning. And in 3, it gave us Battle Hymn of the Soul. But it's hard to match P2, where it apparently had like 4 different songs that played at random. Given that if they make P6, it'll have a different director, hopefully we'll get to hear another creative take on it, or a new song entirely. I'd be a little disappointed if they just re-used the existing version again. Also: sorry for dropping this word-block on your comment.

@@timothystigers807 I would argue that having variations of the same song almost creates that feeling stronger. It's like, no matter how much things change, there's always one through line that will always be there, even if it's not exactly like it was last time, just like how its theming changes in 3-5. Or maybe I'm just thinking about it too much and I just want more variety and/or are being a classic Persona fanboy. That said if they just used the P1 version in every game going forward I wouldn't be mad

Also the PSP version of Persona 2 Tsumi (Innocent Sin) has the same exact version of the Velvet Room as Persona 3, 4, and 5. Im not sure about Persona 2 Batsu (Eternal Punishment) since the PSP version is Japan only but imagine they did the same with that one too.

@@etrotm12thebluewolf15 That's not surprising, but what is surprising is the PSP version of P1. It's like half the original song and half the P3 version - It's paced like the original (opening with vocals instead of the building-up intro) but takes the rest from the P3 version (being slower and not having instrumental after the choir)

@@Shiny_Rayz They all take place in the same universe surprisingly, with each game making a reference to the last one, Igor being in 1-5 Philemon being in 1-2.5, and as a butterfly in 3 and 4, and Tanaka in 3, 4 and 5.. If it is canon to one game, it is canon to every game that is also canon.

@@slothysam I knew all that, I just assumed without explicit confirmation, its just a stretch, similar how to SMT, there is minimal clues, but at one point or another, it does confirm its linked if it is linked at all, but with Persona, aside from the velvet room attendants, there is at best, 5 only 3 references to 3 and 4, 4 having only the school, and 3 making no reference to previous games

@@Shiny_Rayz 5 references 4 and 4 Dancing through the news and advertisements in game and 3 through a cameo, 4 references 3 not only through their school, but a similar cameo from the same character, the calendar in the MC's room, and some extra lore only accessible through New Game Plus after you beat a certain secret boss, and 3 references 2 with an entire social link, which is the one accessed through the computer. I haven't played 1, 2-1, 2-2, or finished 3.
