My girlfriend and I took a beautiful gondola ride in Venice, Italy and we were fortunate to have a very informative gondolier. He explained to us the history of Venice, how gondoliers become gondoliers, and identified some of the famous buildings we passed by. I added several gondola facts and figures as well. Of course, when you take a gondola ride, you get to see beautiful Venice from a different perspective. Taking a gondola ride in Venice may be a touristy thing to do, but it's awesome!

Absolutely overpriced, but it is also to limit the people who use it, because if it were low cost everyone would go and the water in the canals would be even more polluted and too much traffic would be created. Venice is an inhabited city and people use those canals to go to work, supermarket etc, too many gondolas with tourists would create inconvenience

@@AnnamariaLeprini While watching the video a historic fact was shared... it said that 500 years ago there were 10k gondolas(high traffic), by comparison today 500 the most. How did these canals sustained 10k gondolas?If it was done back them why cant we do even 5k gondolas today? If the reason was to limit people(as u commented)... it is obviously no working for at least the last 60+ years. Also, why would the water get more poluted by gondolas if don't have engines? I would say 5k gondolas would decrease pollution instead. Is is true Venice is inhabited (55k strong permanent residents) however I would say most of them work on someway related to turism. In other words turism feeds venetians. The sad part is that Venice is sinking, It is hard to fight water. I hope the 20 million visitors/year are providing somehow the resources needed to fund real solutions post "Mose" project to buy more time for the amazing Venice.

You're welcome! I just re-watched the beginning of the video and if you can find the Fabbriche Nuove di rialto on a map, it was on the other side of the canal. We were staying at the Pesaro Palace so it was very close to there.

We really enjoyed it. I think it was a real palace at one time. It's not near St. Mark's Square, but you can take a long walk from there or take the vaporetto. I assume it's still in pretty good shape but you should check the latest reviews on TripAdvisor.

Hi.. Is it possible to see Bridge of Sighs through gondola ride?
@AndysAwesomeAdventures
@AndysAwesomeAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
It is, but you need to take the gondola rides that are closer to St. Mark's Square and Doge's Palace. Once you are there, just make sure to ask the gondolier if you are going under the Bridge of Sighs.

Ciao Andy, I hope this email finds you well. I work for a NFP Italian Club in Melbourne Australia called The Veneto Club. We have our anniversary dinner coming up and have recent restored our Gondola. We will be presenting it to our members on the night and would love to show you video. Can I please have permission to use it? Guido

There was a gondola sign near our hotel so we just went there and immediately got a ride. You can book gondola rides almost anywhere on The Grand Canal or near St. Mark's Square near the lagoon.

There was a gondola station near our hotel so we picked that one but I'd recommend googling "Venice gondola ride locations" and I'm sure you could find many more.
