That sounds too expensive to me, unless they're quoting for two boats. Even then it's not cheap. If you have the guts, I'd be tempted to just turn up and negotiate the best price you can. There are always a few taxis waiting at the quay. You can play one off against another. The slower ones are much cheaper, of course, but less fun! Incidentally, by far the best way to arrive in Venice is by train. You walk out of the station and the Grand Canal is in front of you. You can get express trains from Paris, Zurich or Munich (or other cities in Italy, of course). Andy

My wife's just reminded me that we had to pre-book the taxi. We booked our trip through expedia.com and the taxi was an option in the booking. The option to share was included, which halved the price, of course. Good luck! Andy

Yes. We pre-booked it through the company which arranged our hotel. But you can just turn up. There always plenty of these taxis waiting at the airport. You'll have to negotiate a price if you just turn up though.

How was it?

I can't remember exactly but it was quite expensive ..... I think about GBP60. But you can share with other travellers - up to six or possibly eight people I think, so that way it's becomes reasonable. There were four of us aboard this taxi.
