A guide to the Venice Simplon Orient Express luxury train. How much does it cost? How to buy tickets? When does it run? For all of that, see www.seat61.com/Venice-Simplon...
The video shows the VSOE check-in at London, brunch on the British Pullman train to Folkestone, crossing the Channel by coach on the Eurotunnel shuttle train, and the Continental train from Calais to Paris & Venice showing the sleeping-cars, bar, all 3 restaurant cars & the excellent food at dinner.
The VSOE takes the Arlberg & Brenner route to Venice, so also see the Arlberg Pass scenery video at • Arlberg Pass: Zurich t... and the Brenner Pass scenery video at • Brenner Pass: Innsbruc... .
Oh, and on a personal note, at 00:07:13 in this video you'll see S-type sleeping-car 3425 at Paris. In that very end vestibule of 3425 right in front of the camera, Mrs Seat61 & I accidentally got engaged in a snowstorm somewhere in the Brenner Pass, back in October 2003.

I've watched or attempted to watch many train travel videos. This is certainly one of the best. Many are 20 sec to 2 min - not long enough to get a feeling of anything. Many only show the scenery, and others are far to shaky to see anything. In this, the camera is smooth and stable and shows that it is a quality camera with someone who knows how to use it properly and can select the right shots to give the viewer an opportunity to appreciate your experience. BRAVO, well done and thanks.

I TOTALLY AGREE ! The ONLY BEST WAY to really see a country is by traveling on board a train (preferably a luxury liner such as the one depicted in the video above) ! If you fly in a commercial airliner ✈️, then all you'll see are clouds ☁️☁️☁️☁️ ! If you ride in a boat ⛵, then all you'll see is the river, ocean 🌊, or some other body of water ! If you take the train 🚂, then you'll be able to see villages 🏘️, towns, rivers, oceans 🌊, mountains ⛰️, forests 🌳, caves, beaches 🏖️, and so much more depending upon where the tracks 🛤️ were laid out and all 😊 !

Awesome. I just remember a train trip 3 yrs ago when we were travelling to a rock festival near Prague (just a normal international train). At Bratislava, a guy entered our coupe, seemingly having the same destination. As conversation went on about the festival (using English), I just made a remark that he has a nice French accent. He just said that "Actually I'm from Belgium. And my last name is NOT Poirot." We ordered champagne in the bar car and laughing that it at least a bit feels like having a trip on the Orient Express :)

Beautiful train ride. The music at 2:53 sounds very similar to what you hear in New Orleans around the French Quarter.

I'm not sure that I'd wantvto drink champagne with eggs on a bumpy train trip lol but other than that it seems lovely. The lounge bar car is perfect and a bathtub on a train is amazing.

Lovely Mark. Pleasure to see everyone dress for dinner. I am surprised that there are three dining cars?
