After trying very hard I am unable to understand how three and four are also being counted in each pairs ? we know pair means 2 ? Please someone help !

In 3 and 4, pairs are possible, think of this this way, there are A,,B,C and D. AB pair, AC pair, AD pair, then BC pair, BD pair and so on, then there is a pair in ABC (in 3) where 3 pair can be made ab, bc and ac. mota moti wherever pair can be made (basically anything equal or more than pair (2))

Hello sir , I have a doubt . As mentioned in the question 50 students were selected by each pair of firm , so why are we taking 3 and 4 , we should take two firms common with 50 students because pair means two things.

@@yugdesai8668 consider there are 50 candidates. 20 of them got selected by only A nd B, and rest 30 of them selected by all A, B, C nd D. So now we can say that 50 students were selected by the pair of firms A nd B. Similary for every other possible pair like B nd C, A nd C, C nd D , B nd D & A nd D.

In case of going for trial n error in Q1 it satisfies all conditions in 134 and you’ll get A as 9 , why Option D is wrong????

Sir in the 2nd set 1st question, it is asked what could be maximum number of families and you added all the numbers in Venn diagram but there are overlapping families as well in the diagram right??? How can we directly add them without considering some families are overlapping and so repeated Can anyone clarify please

It is not the families that are overlapping but their selection of newspapers.

You are right we can't add A + B + C individually to get the number of families because 'a' will be added thrice , '18-a' will be added twice and so on. But, here we are only adding unique terms and not double counting any value. This means, we are calculating I + II + III and not I + 2II + 3III

My approach For last question to find 40- 2a: We have already concluded in 1st que that min value of a is 10 and max is 18 So put 'a' as 10 to 18 in 40-2a It will match the option when you out value of a=12 40-24= 16 ( that is the max value of C and therefore the answer) (Putting a= 15 will give 10 which is in the options but that will not be the max value of C...so stop calculating after a=12)

50 students selected by each pair of firms. If you say atleast then it means 2 or more than 2. Pair means we consider all combinations of 2 only (only 2 at a time). How can we consider 3 or even 4 firms ???

students selected by3 firms and 4 firms means they are selected by 2 firms .selected by 3 firms means selected by 2 firms and also by one more firm.

That's a mistake in the question, I have had the same doubt because pair clearly means 2 firma and sir has considered 3 and 3 also, doesn't make sense!!

@@kedarmajethiya4193 if it is mentioned as only selected by 2 firms then you have to take for only 2 firms as 50. But in que it is given that 2 firms that means at least 2 firms(a candidate at least select in 2 firm can also has a chance to get selected in 3 firms or 4 firms).

Bcz when you are saying 3 companies it will also include 6 possibilities of having pairs inside them.... And as only 2 companies are not mentioned so you have to take 3 and 4 companies as well.

@@yojyatajha3506 I figured out that pair will be A&B or B&C or A&D or C&D . So, for each pair 50 were selected. Now, if you see the intersection of A&B the total should be 50 and we've 30 in common to A,B,C,D so 20 should be the intersection of Just A&B. Similarly for other cases

Yes bro . So consider 18-a >= 0 here since a is negative it would just go to the other side thus , making the value of a less than 18. (18 >=a) Now consider a-10 >= 0 here the value 10 goes to the other side since its is negative thus making the value of a greater than 10 . (a>=10) Its just a matter of perception nothing to worry. :)

Cause.....all three newspaper are read by " a "......so "a" can be minimum 0 or greater than 0.....it can't me in Negative......so now 50 - 2a should also be greater than equal to zero......( like if a = 52....then it's zero & if a =0 or any no less than 54 it's positive......which implies.....50 - a >= 0 & same is true for all other...... :[]

Let total no . Of student will be x .. 80 % of total no . Is 600 So 80/100 *x = 600 Solve it ..u will get 750 😃

Assuming total students as'T' 80%/100%= 600/T T=750(by cross multiplication)

Here in question it is given 20% are rejected means 80% are selected ...to find the nos add all the values 140+90+90+130+20+20+20+20+20+20+30=600 so this 80%=600 20%= 600*20/80 = 150 Now add 600+150 = 750
