Venom X22GT 250cc Speed Test Part One

Welcome to the first of several speed tests of the Venom X22GT. I need people to understand that this is not a MAX speed test just a general idea of its capabilities. For one thing, the motor is not broken in yet and at the time of the test it has 36 miles on it. It's not a smart thing to max your motor so soon. I want to get a few hundred miles and an oil change down before I go for it.
NOTE: I am not an expert but more of an enthusiast who is trying to build experience. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments or resources like 49ccScoot forums on the internet (Great Place!)

I bought the new 2019 venom x22 gt 250. Broke down 90% of owner ship in a month and a half. Venom will not assist you if you leave a bad review on bbb. My scooter showed up banged up and scratched up. First thing I had to do before I could ride was wait for a carburetor and install it. Not built to last, this company is here to take your money. Im out $2499.99.

I went ahead and asked venom to get both sides of the stories. They said they sent you an entire new set of plastics , and the carb you talked about was a fuel line disconnected and needed to be connected and that’s normal for a shipped bike since it does not go to a dealer for finishing. I was also informed you asked for 225 dollars or sent an invoice for a mechanic to install the battery. They helped and helped and when you reported to the BBB your claims the decided to stop helping since you did that. I believe you had issues , they tried to help and just could not make you happy. Anyone who reads this please reference this commenters name and contact Venom yourself and find out personally what happened. Always get both sides of any story to make a valid judgment.

Doesn't sound like the same story there fella. Does sound familiar as to another bbb post I had read though yes. That is what type of company your dealing with, one that goes back on their warrant over constructive criticism. Several customers are in satisfied for a reason

Criticism yes , constructive no. All you have done is cite problems in a vague fashion. What I look for when someone is being constructive is give real examples of why the company failed you like the carb bolts where loose and it fell off or the body came with scratches and the refused to fix it or they sent me touch up paint. Those things I have heard before from companies doing “customer service”. For example the lifan KP Mini has had loose bolts on the carb , and someone who bought a Vader from a website with scratches they sent nail polish to fix the scratch. I admit you did have problems , but I am unsure of exactly why it was that way and what steps YOU did and how you where denied what you should have got. Cite those and then it would be useful.

Not bad at all considering it's automatic/CVT tranny. For comparison (of apples to potatoes, LOL), the mechanically stock 2016 CRF250L I had (with windshield, side and top racks with hard cases, Shinko 705 tires) it would hit 85-87 on the gps at 340lbs + or - (counting the add ons) and a 6 speed with factory 14/40 gearing. That speedo (on the X22GT) IS bad though, LOL, wow it's off lots 😂Cool video, looking forward to the real "top speed run" video ✌🏍

I'm bout to get my first motorcycle, I'm leaning towards a Honda DCT, I forgot what model it is. It's about $9600. Idk if I should get something like this in ur video because it's cheaper and I'm a beginner. But this sounds like a scooter and it's not picking up speed. And will this brand u have break down easily? Honda I think is more of a reliable manufacturer. Any suggestions?

Love your videos, other than the camera close ups. I feels like someone is in my personal space. 😂 Anyway I am in Houston also and you seem to have purchased both bikes I am considering. The Lifan and the Venom....well I am considering the Falcon version. I am having such a hard time deciding but the Lifan seems higher quality. I am new to riding and have no desire to go highway speeds. I may do that when I buy a Ryker but not on 2 wheels.

@@armanimoore508 ,hmm yeah something definitely not right,have you tried contacting venom motorsports,I've heard people replacing the headlights an installing their own,on the leaking gas, id try tracking down on all of the hoses, something could've puncture them during shipment,as far as the vibration,it's probably idling too high,just my guess

Back in my day, I had a 1985 Honda Rebel 250cc and the top speed was 85mph stock. I held the gas throttle down all the way. It reached top speed pretty fast. Especially on the freeway. I would've assumed that today's engines would be faster.

By looking at displacement yes but because it is a CVT transmission There is a lot more loss than is a manual transmission.

Hey! Probably a dumb question but is it possible to stretch this bike? Put a long swing arm on? Or would the automatic set up keep that from being doable?

No since the CVT transmission is the swing arm and is part of the motor you can not stretch the bike. Maybe you can offset the motor backwards but that would require modifying how the motor is attached to the frame.

It’s a post process you do with a GoPro app to read the gps data. It’s on all gopros 5 and newer

I'm very interested in purchasing a Venom Auto Motorcycle. Has there been any updates or "figuring-out" why the speedometer is so far off from the testing speed? 10-15 mph is quite a difference. Bike said it was going 82 but arm said it was 67-70mph ??? What's up with that?

I’m a beginner and plan on buying this I’ve been watching reviews on all the bikes and so far I’m leaning towards this one. Best of luck getting to 100mph. This bike is approx 15hp. Probably tops out at 70mph ish. Its based on the Honda CRF230 engine.

Not many choices thanks to CARB. They kind of force the big brands on you. However, this list of CARB approved bikes from Dongfang might be what you are looking for as far as a Chinese scooter, BUT these might all be trikes (2 wheels in the front and one in the rear). They are CARB approved, but Dongfang's website doesn't seem to show all their bikes, including their '300' series as shown on the list. The listed 300SST is probably most similar to what Ceasar is riding above, and according to the CARB certificate is legal in California. ww3.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/hmc/2020/dongfang_m2040003_275d6_1d0_h.pdf

Bothers me some seeing the speed display is off so much. Although by now that's a couple years old model so I would hope it's something that's been corrected by now, or maybe it corrected itself? I like knowing how fast I'm going at any given time. Having to guestimate 10~mph difference between the gauge and actual speed all the time sounds annoying to me.

They did not correct it. You have to buy a speedodrd wire harness and wire it into the speedometer cable to adjust it to an accurate reading on the speedometer. It's actually pretty easy to do, it's just that you're spending an additional $70 on the bike for something you shouldn't have to do.

I don’t really know what to say but in general all China bikes have some issues. Break it in and don’t gun it , it’s a belt driven cvt sp you have to break in the belt. That’s the first issue people have. Second , check bolts , really inspect and third is just really go easy in her the first 100-200 miles. Most people break it because they drive like an idiot right away. It’s not a Japan bike. If you want more opinion stuff DM me in IG or text me from the number on the KZfaq channel

Do you have any mods or set tuning on the carb to get it to get up to speed. Mine runs well but it’s like it can’t get passed 60 mph. Full throttle too

I'm running into that same issue. I purchased the exact bike last week and my highest speed is about 65 mph, that's wide open throttle on the highway. Im curious to know what we need to do to reach top speed.

Look into gearing it and aftermarket carbs.

If you could help I have the same bike 2023 at 1500 Miles and it still won't go faster than 55 mpph

What they don't tell you is that you need to break in the CVT belt. Most people gun it and glaze the belt so it slips more easily. I would (or have someone) open the CVT and inspect the rollers for flat spots and if the belt stretched or got to smooth.

May I ask what kind of helmet you have that shows the speedometer and gps?

It’s a GoPro 7, and after I download the footage I process in the GoPro Quik app and add the speed . The GPS is from my phone connected to my helmet communicator with a separate extra mic from the go pro to the speaker in my helmet.

Do you have a video of your process on how you connected to you helmet? This head up display on the helmet seems more ideal to have everything In front of you. But does it distract from riding?

The info is added post ride not during the ride. I can do a rundown on the helmet, I would love to actually but it’s not live.
