The Flying Toaster Huh you’re right but then why doesn’t Cletus have his symbiote then? Unless this takes place between when it was stolen and before the end of Red Goblin he should still have it and not need to be forcibly bonded with a new one shouldn’t it?

Cletus was faking loyalty to the hive. Hence why he was trying to kill Spider-Man and Venom instead of letting them be infected. Basically, Marvel wanted to keep Carnage while doing the Red Goblin storyline and now they can.

To be fair even back then it didn't mean much as long as your name wasn't Venom or Carnage. They were either rarely appearing villains for Venom or one off ant-heroes. Scream was the most relevant of the other symbiotes besides the two after she became a anti-hero as well but she disappeared after Venom stopped having mini series and when she did finally come back Eddie killed her. Poor Hybrid never did get to join the New Warriors and got separated to join new people only for their hosts to get killed off again. Pat didn't even get a onscreen death, though Toxin almost had as much screen time as Scream after bonding to Eddie.

I'm confused. Isn't the symbiote being able to make webs purely for Venom and its descendents? Why would any other have that ability? Also, why haven't any other symbiote copied a hosts ability? Why does Cletus look like an evil Papyrus?

1. and 2. Well, usually when their host (the heroes) think of symbiotes that is the ability that will come to their mind, and therefore will use it. The reason why the Venom family uses webs is because it was Venoms main purpose for Spidey when he was first found, symbiotes use shapeshifting for this to use so shapeshifting on this level is not exactly impossible. 3. That is inaccurate, symbiotes don't exactly do that, the ones shown in the comics who mimic the ability does it through shapeshifting since it could work, if shapeshifting would not give the desired ability then it is not possible. 4. Because the artist said so.

It's reasonable, as he brought the Venom symbiote to earth, and therefore feels responsible for all the damage that it's caused. In Red Goblin, though, we get to see that he doesn't hate Venom.

@JacksonEbert Its not so reasonable when Peter trying to murder the symbiote just because it wanted to permanently bond to him and help him be a hero was what set Venom on it's former path as a villain in the first place and that he refuses to acknowledge all the good Venom and some other symbiotes have done.

TheSwordsman100 yea but Spider-Man when he had the symbiote at night it would wear him brutalize criminals and after finding out it was alive he panicked which caused the symbiote to panic and leads to the symbiote feeling betrayed and seeking revenge. Also I think he tormented Mary Jane

I hate how spiderman despises the symbiote race completely and whenever he sees one his first instinct is to kill it, I mean come on man I thought Eddie and Flash redeemed his view on the symbiotes.

I swear it was annoying the hell out of me through out the whole comic i was like no spiderman your wrong! Did you not listen at all when the venom symbiote apologised and explained why it was so violent? After that event i expected peter to have a better understanding and less hostility towards the klyntars but no he still acts like their parastitc monsters when thats not true
