Just make sure it's a vent for your drain and not the exhaust for your 95% furnace

There is also a rubber expanding tube you use that blocks backflow.

My sink in the kitchen has been slow so I bought a rubber drain bladder for the hose. I sent that puppy down put the hose on my washer hot line and sent it. 20 minutes later I pulled the hose out and I swear this isn’t a exaggeration 3 ft of the hose had grease on it. I asked my wife. “You dumping grease or oil in the sink?” “No never”. 🤨 somebody ain’t telling me the truth. Working on my kitchen now so while I have that wall opened I’m gonna cut it out and replace it.

I bought a better specifically for this. I plan to use it for other things as well. We got grinder ours coming in and I know far too well how often they jam up. So me and all my neighbors will be set. Well after they pay me of course 😂

Just be aware that some vent pipes are also connected to the exhaust fan in the bathroom

As a Millwright Mechanic that is also a Red seal General Carpenter foundation to finish and in Canada a real carpenter learns every thing even electrical havoc plumbing and Fundamental Engineering Principles I can explain why it worked for you .. but that pipe is not to only allow Atmospheric Pressure in it is to Vent out Pressures and Methane Gasses it that tricked worked for you you then you had an methane pocket trapped in your system causing an Expansion contraction Vacuum so its a Good thing you did that and it worked or Eventual Boom ..Cheers Buddy

Unless the plug is a black walnut or 3 dropped down by a squirrel...you're gonna need a little more than water pressure to free that...I speak from experience...a chimney cleaning rod did the trick!

send me the link to the chimney rod you used. i used a milwaukee cordless drain snake and that didn’t not work after multiple hours of trying. seems like my air vent is blocked with something pretty hard inside. the bathroom straight up stinks like shit.

@@josuemendoza615 it's something my brother had; I think it's just 25ft of threaded rod with a 9" diameter wire brush bolted to the end.

Oh my goodness! Those little fuckers drop walnuts down my drains all the time. I couldn't believe it when I cut my vent and nuts started falling out. Gonna cap them when fixed.

i remember one time having to tunnel under a house to replace a drain pipe that had a piece of a water hose broke off, i guess someone had shoved down at some point... Moral of the story is make sure you don't use a crust old water hose

I’m so confused… so I just throw that piece of metal into the pipe and that fixes the issue?? How do I retrieve it?

I suspect he left out the little tidbit of information that you actually attach that brass nozzle to your garden hose before jamming it down the pipe. Then turn on the water to flush the clog further down the drain. At least that was the question I also had.

Or if you Move to Missouri and they never vented the house so you are vented from the Kitchen sink to the toilet then to the laundry tub . Not 1 roof vent I plan to fix it one day Soon .

@@terracar2003 70% of the small towns have no code in Missouri . But the Big Cities do St louis ,Jeff City, Springfield, Colombia . I been here 23 years and seen Garden hose used for water lines in the 3000 sq foot home . No code they have no idea or do not care I seen Electric run 400 feet two 110 lines to get 220 hanging from trees and 2x4 stuck in the ground to keep the wires up lol no conduit the wire is not uv coated lol when they have a fire its like oh well i just build it bigger.

Yes it can but you really got to make sure it doesn't get stuck in your vent. Use a small and cheap drain snake while washing it with water is the best way. I have had to go to a house to find where it was stuck and cut the drywall and vent pipe to remove it for a costumer and repair the vent and they had to have a drywall guy patch the sheet rock. It costs them more that having me the plumber do it. Yes it can work seen it but be very careful please. I'm a true believer in helping people with advice for free and if I can.

Making enemies possibly, but also marking themselves customers to others when that makes a turn or falls off ect.... & has to be retrieved by others. That can become very expensive.

Do you think someone is going to pull the stuff out? No, it goes down the drain line even if a pro comes out to do it. Standard practice to clear a vent.
