My Honda 1332 was doing this and was driving me berserk. After 2 minutes would surge and die. I have videos on this. I brought it to dealer and they diagnosed as a bad gas cap.

See those rectangular miles around the edge of the bottom and top of the cap? Those are the vents😂clowns

I know this is an older video but thought I'd ask. I have a Ryobi Gas weed wacker . It ran fine then all of a sudden it would die. When I took off the gas cap I heard a rush of air . I put the cap back on and it ran fine then did the same thing. The cap looks like it has a tiny piece of cork in it. I think it is getting air locked . I also think that cork must somehow vent the tank. When operating the Trimmer the cap to the fill is upside down so I can't put a tiny hole in the top of the cap as gas will leak right out.. It just sounds to me like it is air locked but I don't know how that tiny piece of round cork would vent the tank.. I looked and looked and can't find a cap as this trimmer is way old 2008 but I have taken care of it and it runs great ...well when it runs LOL

Hows it holding up after two years? I thought the hole looked a tad too big. It looked like you used a 1/8 drill bit. I was wondering if you've noticed any dirt or debris getting into the gas tank?

I have a snapper rear engine riding mower it has a non-vented cap from the factory it runs great for a little while and then dies like it's out of gas. I cannot find a vented gas cap for this what do I do

My suggestion is to find the smallest drill bit you can and pit a small hole in it. Just be mindful not to leave it out in the rain or anything after that though

Dont drill a in your gas cap unless you want to ruin it. Without a check valve the fuel tank won't vent like it should, and it will end up leaking fuel. There should be a little duck bill valve under the plastic piece that he drilled through. You should be able to pry the little cap off with a small screwdriver and clean the valve or replace it. Save yourself a few bucks and don't listen to this guy.😮
