After we fix my sway-bar disconnect, I travel south to experience the Gulf Coast of Texas. South Padre Island is bustling in the wake of Spring Break, so I take to Padre Island National Seashore to seek out sun and surf. The week concludes in Houston National Forest, in East Texas, which oozes with vegetation and character!

It a simple answer. Needs a girl in a bikini traveling with him and watch his channel explode! It’s true he does have some of the best content on U tube as far as Van Life on the road or as in Chris case, Jeep life on the road. Truly a pro at what he does for sure but again a girl with a bikini traveling with him would explode his channel 😁👍😉 also would be a plus if he commented back on his subscribers 👍😁😉

That is a secluded beach trip! We go a week or two AFTER spring break. At Corpus Christi Nat Seashore Park go south along the coast/beach, the first 5 miles are 2/4wd , but after that beware everyone,4WD only. The 60 miles on the beach to the Port Mansfield cut. No facilities..pack in, pack out. It's a great retreat! We go for about 4 days-just fish and chill. Start the beach trek when high tide is going out--the sand is packed. If you go during high tide, the surf will push you up in the real loose/deep sand(real slow going). Don't go too late during hurricane season ...

You're smart to stay out of the water but equally bad is the salt air from the mist that blows inshore. Particularity bad overnight. When I first started watching this vid, starting typing that you needed to head to the National Seashore. Glad you figured it out. It's been my destination in my jeep for years and I have the rust to prove it and never drove in the water. I was surprised to see you cooking and not having to deal with the usual strong inland winds. Often, there's a lot of soft sand along the shore and it looks like you got lucky with most of the sand packed down. What a great setup with your jeep. Also liked the length of your vid that covered so much of our great state.

I live on the beach in Hua Hin, Thailand and I remember my times on the Texas gulf coast and seeing your video brings up an interesting question. The sea birds on Padre Island are noisy and plentiful. I remember feeding the gulls and brown pelicans fish scraps after cleaning our days catch and there would be hundreds flying and perched around waiting for a bite. There are no sea birds here on the gulf coast of Thailand. A lonely egret and some land birds chasing the little sand crabs at times but no birds to speak of.

Thanks for the great video about your trip to PINS, and thanks for packing out extra trash. There is an organization called Friends of Padre that organizes an annual clean-up of Big Shell Beach. 1400 volunteers this year cleaned 25 miles of beach! It's too bad it doesn't stay clean, but the drive off of the beach after the cleanup is done is really beautiful.

Chris is right about the sea and corrosion. The Forth Estuary ate my beloved Jeep Wrangler TJ, although the terrible Scottish weather and the fact I never washed old Jeepsy probably didn't hold back the rust.

Looks like it was high tide to boot. I think if it wasn’t spring break and you finally made it far enough north, there’s a lot of seclusion. There’s also Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) which you access from Corpus Christi. That has over 60 miles of undeveloped coastline open for dispersed camping.
