Watch my prior video. Analyzing at what point this venturi siphon mixer begins to flow.

Very Very Helpful! I was messing around with the same unit tested and pulling my hair out! Sending it back and getting a closed system unit.

The Mazzei has to be sized right for your flow rate. Call or email the company, they are very nice and helpful.

Have you tried raising the entire suction hose and bucket above your venturi? Without having to fight gravity to enter the venturi it might flow better.

For these to work properly, you need a pressure differential between your inlet pressure & outlet pressure. The simplest way is to install a gate valve on the inlet side of your water flow & wind the valve down creating back pressure on the main line. The amount of restriction you add will control the amount of suction from the venturi.

@Deb Neill This guy explains it pretty well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bs50fMWUtdi5g30.html My setup was pretty much the same except I controlled the outlet pressure with the same gate valve but I used a pressure gauge on the inlet & outlet side. Adjusting the outlet pressure to suit the amount of fertilizer being sucked up into the system. I think I ran it around 0.8-1.0L/min. Mine was all 3/4". We've recently moved so it's not set back up yet but will be as soon as I can.

So basically, the pressure on the outlet side needs to be higher??

You are right, but, you can lower the volume of flow going into the venturi and let the hose open like you did, and you should get more suction.. It works based off of flow more than pressure, but, restricting the flow does screw it up.. Look at the venturi itself. Larger at entry end, diameter of hose plus exit end should just about be equal. The flow, as it passes and constricts, and then releases, is where it should pull the volume from the bucket. Bet it would work if you decreased the input flow rate.. Those venturies are designed for certain flow rates. Yard hydrants vs drip irrigation, etc..

I discovered this in trying to use the venturi system to feed liquid fertilizer through a drip irrigation system. Not enough pressure differential. In short, it sucked at delivering fertilizer.

venturi was not sized properly to volume and pressure of your system,

Can anyone tell me if these venturi siphons work when used on a frost proof yard hydrant? Mine constantly pushes water into to bucket that holds ferts instead of creating suction. I have installed a backflow preventer and a pressure regulator before the siphon, double checked that nothing is upside down, etc. Any ideas?

I also have a frost free spigot, and in general these siphons do not work on standard hose setups.

Would this work on a full on irrigation system I have all rotors and an 1 acre lot not trying to hand fertilize that.
@TommyTester2 жыл бұрын
It's risky to go with this simple siphon approach which seems to only work for close-in, short hose, hand watering, imo. There are fert injection tanks available for most irrigation systems which utilized pressure from the line to inject liquid fert into the stream. Good luck.

I got one of these from eBay. Seems they are cheap for a reason, barely works as you have shown.

Have you tried using a bypass to allow for greater pressure differential between inlet and outlet?
@TommyTester4 жыл бұрын
No. I have seen some systems use that but I think it requires a higher pressure source to begin with.

@@TommyTester I'm going to be ordering a Massei venturi. First I need to get me a pressure gauge and test my water flow to order the correct one for the amount of suction I require.

Of all the siphons you have tested which would you recommend? And why?

The EZ FLO 2020-HB is the only one that worked for my needs ... adding liquid fertilizer to feed a water sprinkler.
@07SATS4 жыл бұрын
@@TommyTester Issue with EZ FLO is it dilutes liquid fertilizer as it adds water and sucks water, eventually you will have diluted liquid fertilizer. I need true venturi system which give 100% same material from the source. Have you seen anything like that? Thank you. I have same issue as you described in your video
