I looked it up and he's 82 here (born in Sept 1940). What's amazing is he still has his voice. So many singers lose their ability to hit the notes when they get old, but he's still got it. I'd still love to see him in person,

I'd just turned 5 when "Venus" hit the AM airwaves in July 1959. Whether I heard it first on the radio our nursemaid played or on American Bandstand (or both) I don't recall, but it was the very first rock song I couldn't get enough of. (Second was "Little Polka Dot Bikini". Third may have been "A Summer Place".) They say childhood is hell, and mine was no picnic, but music softened the edges of experience by providing mystical beauty when beauty was no where else to be found. I couldn't help thinking that somebody put Frankie up to this concert and that he was embarrassed to be onstage at 88.

He went to the same schools as I, Vare Jr. high and Southern high. I was born and bred in South Philly, there was never any place like it. The people, the food and the neighborhoods, everyone understood each other. I’m Italian decent and so proud, SP was mostly Italians, and other nationalities. We all have those accents. ❤

This guy should pack it in and call it a day. Avertual (One hit wonder, that you are.) Same as he was in 1959. With no voice, he has to 'Word" the song out. The back round singers, especially the Soprano, was the only entertaining part to enjoy. Also, wish he'd come clean about his hair. Is it really his, or not?
