In fighting, if you try and just go crazy after your opponent and take him out, there's a good chance you'll get caught yourself. Jon knows this so he just let's his opponents try to bring the attack to him and keeps them at bay with his reach. So you see, he's actually gotten even better. He was closer to being finished in his earlier fights like against Vitor, Chael, and Gus.
