Back in the 70’s my high school our band director “volunteered” a few of us to do the music for a local college graduation ceremony and we did the March from Aida. I loved it then and still do.

In 1972 I had the privilege of attending the production of this opera in Rome at the Baths of Caracalla, complete with elephants, giraffes, horses...what a spectacle!

Ho un bellissimo ricordo dell’Egitto quando siamo scesi dalla nave ,la banda musicale ci ha accolti ad ogni donna che scendevamo dalla nave ci hanno regalata una rosa e poi si sono messi a suonare questo pezzo bellissimo. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@dnslighter6982 Indeed! But it isn't money that lacks, it's imagination. I belong to a theatre group, it has a wonderful work shop for constructing, painting and storing materials. But set design is completely in the hands (heads?) of the most unimaginative people you are ever likely to meet. Sets are always, ALWAYS made of welded steel sections reinforced with concrete reinforcing bars. One way or another, these are used in every production. They weigh a ton and require multiple trucks to transport. Also they are unstable and have been known to fall over during a performance. Am. Dram. is known for its oddities and I have come across a few. This is the latest, it takes some beating!

Io ho partecipato come comparsa , guerriero egiziano quando si tenne all'anfiteatro romano.estate 1990. Una bellissima esperienza, una bellissima opera, molti non sanno che il libretto dell'opera è stato scritto da Ferdinando Maria Piave.

In realtà il libretto fu scritto da Antonio Ghislanzoni, perchè Piave (il cui vero nome - voglia scusarmi, ma devo correggerLa - era Francesco Maria) era morto da qualche anno.

Es un gran evento la Marcha Triunfal de Aida , como la están representando con una enorme cantidad de representantes con sus escenarios y no es para menos un gran acontecimiento que se festeja esto tiene un costo muy alto económico que solo puede ser en naciones con un poder adquisitivo muy alto , es inolvidable , muchas gracias para las personas que apreciamos este tipo de actos históricos . Since I was a teenager, I've loved Verdi operas, especially Aida and La Traviata. I used to listen to the triumphal march (also the temple scene) and would imagine the visuals. It was wonderful to see what I heard. Those dancers were amazing!

OH, my mistake - after a bit of research, I find this Triumphal march is from the 2006 La Scala production by Zeffirelli - the one where Roberto Alagna was booed off the stage after 1-2 performances and the understudy had to rush on in jeans to continue the performance. The DVD of this production was apparently cobbled together from combining a live performance and a dress rehearsal. The main male dancer is the noted Roberto Bolle. Violetta Urmana sang the title role. Ricardo Chailly was conductor. There is much debate regarding the video direction, the incessant and obtrusive curtain dissolves and lack of attention to the drama and singing. Glad to see the correction. The conductor sure did not look like von Karajan.

Years ago, I carried-in the Captured Ethiopian Treasure as a Supernumerary ("Super") in this Act, at Lyric Opera of Chicago. Our production did not come close to the Artistic Grandeur that is presented here. What a treat!

Years ago We visited Venice. The Theatro de Venice ( I might not have spelt that right) had two vacant seats for Aida so we took them. This performance reminds me of that one .I would say if you like opera go and see one in Italy. It was, as I would expect, was the best performance I had ever seen. (out of perhaps three) but the best thing was the audience. The audience naturally know all the words but they had that enthusiasm one might find in an English football crowd. They really applauded some spots and one could sense their feelings about spots that did not meet their expectations. We went to the bar during the interval and had a real pleasant conversation with another patron. It did not matter that we spoke no Italian and he didn't speak English but we did have a great conversation and I learned a few words.

Imposible lograr superar esta produccion, exhuberante en detalles, magnificos sus danzantes, la pareja de danzantes tuvo una armonia en sus movimientos muy perfecta, exquisita y hermosa al seguir los acordes musicales. Fue una produccion que su montaje se desbordo en lujos y detalles. ¡¡¡Bravo!!!

What an interesting production of Aida, I wish I could have seen the full opera! It makes sense, seeing this short bit here, to have an opera company doing the singing, parts of the Brass Section among the people on stage (for the fanfare in the royal court), and members of the state ballet company providing dancing and visuals too.

Solicitada a Verdi componer esta ópera para la inauguración del canal de Suez quedó a la par con la grandeza arquitectónica y de ingeniería de aquella construcción. Una ópera simplemente fantástica.

La Marcha Triunfal sirve de finalización al Acto Segundo de la Ópera AIDA de Giuseppe Verdi, con la fanfarrria inicial de las trompetas, los magníficos coros, los bailarines y los solistas uniéndose en la segunda mitad del segmento, para entregar al público un trozo de insuperable majestad y perfección, como solo el maestro Giuseppe Verdi fue capaz de componer, producir y armonizar.

Hola... he visto esta representación decenas de veces y es un regocijo para el alma la perfección de la puesta en escena, los coros, la orquesta, los decorados, el maquillaje, los bailarines, en fin, es un todo que deleita y emociona.y recrea el esplendor que seguramente tuvo el Egipto de los faraones.
