Hi there in this episode of VHTV we are showing you the full review of the .22 calibre Sandwell Field Sports Imp, the rifle that was made for pest controllers to use at close to medium ranges.
We take you through the rifle characteristics all the way to some long range shooting to put the Imp through a rigorous and real test to see if it's got what's needed to make it as a sub 12 foot pound long range hunter.
Will the rifle cope? To find out watch the full 34 minute review.
At the end of the review we give you a sneak preview of the Sandwell Field Sports new Chieftain target spring piston rifle.
Here you will see Davy with his new Chieftain beat a Air Arms MPR PCP in a mini competition shooting a small spinner at 45 yards.

I picked up the HW99s Imp from Tony Wall at SFS yesterday.... All I can say is what a fantastic shop, full of great gear and a very friendly helpful team running it. Took it up to the 20m range upstairs and what a phenomenal little rifle it is in .22 and superbly accurate. Can't wait to use it in the field. Big thanks to Si for bring this to my attention and Tony for doing a top job of tuning it.

Great shooting sir! I bought a HW99 from the same shop today. its amazing, been shooting it all afternoon. Got the .177 and I'm really liking it. Those pellets really move!

Thanks for your videos. Just purchased a HW 50s Hunter package that looks almost identical to this one. New to airguns so now I have the HW 50, HW97k in laminated blue and Gamo Urban. Love shooting these in my backyard. Hoping to buy a HW100KT before the end of the year.

6 years ago already this video. Love all the VerminHunters vids🤘🏼 I had many pcp's. Yet I just bought the HW50S(99S in Britain). Plus also a Hawke 4-12×40ao mildot. (Love this combo). But...have to tune the entire thing. We have Metura (the Huma maker) . He also does an outstanding job. Cant wait to bring it to him, and more so: Pick it up afterwards.

Thanks for the comment Mitchell. Yes its a nice rifle, the kind that as a place in anyone's rifle cabinet. Tony asked us to do the review and see what the rifle can do at longer ranges. It had previously never been tested at long range so he was interested. I think it performs really well considering it only being made for close to medium range shooting at first.

No chance I could get a SFS tune, hopefully a Vortek PG2 or V-Mach should suffice. Any plans on you two bringing out your trusty 97's, and 98 for another pesting/hunting video? Its absolutely remarkable the shots you two make with these fine rifles. Glad you two shared your 3 shot calibration secret, just brilliant!

The HW97 is a great rifle mate. Ive got some lasting memories of what mine has achieved. I should take it out more really. Roll on the Spring and Summer, that's when the .22 springers will be heavily involved in vermin shooting on the late nights.

If I were a rat, crackle, squirrel, fox or what have you and I saw you a coming, I would run like hell!! Nice video Si. I always look forward to reviewing your videos. Just getting into air rifles here. I made the huge mistake of buying a springer that has no suppressor on it. 22 cal magnum so it is loud. Saving for a PCP, gonna do my homework this time and purchase a rifle that is more suited to my kind of pesting, namely rats and coyotes!...I think the 22cal will get the job done. Thanks for another excellent video.

Very good review again Si looks like you prefer it to your legendary HW97KT .22 !! Also the 98, all 3 rifles can put every shot under a 5p at 50 yards.. its what you want from your rifle.. heavy underlever, small breakbarrel or an adjustable rifle. None is better than the other.. but all SFS tuned HWs are miles better than factory guns. Suppose all the tuners give you the same thing roughly again thats just down to preference. Me? I need look no further than my SFS 98 :) Thumbs up from me keep them vids coming. All the best. 1 shot SKoT

True Scott, Which ever rifle you choose or use if its been tuned will work very well and should if matched with the correct pellet match a pcp if shot properly. Got to say though my HW98 is defo now my favorite springer.

Hi Si, what pellets have you found best in the Imp to date? Ive fount that H&n FTT 5.52mm arent very consistant in weight. Causing POI shifts

The length of pull on the 99S Imp is quite long. So I have shortened the stock on mine.

Do you ever use droop eliminator scope bases on your break barrels to save your vertical scope adjustments?

I use Hawke adjustable mounts or shim the rear mount. This means that I can zero the scope within a few clicks using the mounts and fine tune with clicks.

I know it's impossible to buy an air rifle and ship it to the U.S because of your laws. Can Sandwell send a spring kit and piston? How about a cut barrel and moderator? Will these make it through customs?

He means X 7 magnification! At times 7 mag he has to use 1.5 mildots of holdover!

Chris Fogarty I had already got my one from my local gun shop and did not like it at all was going to trade it in on something else but saw video with si saying about tuning them got shop to contact Sandwell was told it would take about 5 months due to waiting list , got shop to send it off and then saw about thumb hole stocks so got them to fit one while they had it I think the stock was around £300 , it’s the best springer I have including my TX 200 and my pro sport , I don’t think you will be disappointed with it 👍

Went out and bought imp mk2 .couldn’t get it to shoot like u did.I tried jsbs air arms rows super dome field accupel vermin bisley mags .took it to a local gun shop and let a top hft shooter he couldn’t get grouping you did.I took it to a local Airgun tuner he was t impressed at price of it .have I bought a wrong one or am I using wrong pellets

Tony doesn't let his rifles leave the shop unless the rifle stacks pellets on top of each other. As with tuners they will all have different prices and more than likely they will not big someone else's work up.

Dr Gunsmith no its not better then a walther LGV.. For one fundamental reason.. The LGV has a rotary piston.. If you had a tony wall stage one tune including the tigger job on the LGV.. I feel its a better rifle then the IMP.. But the thing is it comes down to what you need the rifle for.. As the IMP is a top hunting rifle.. which is small and compact and i pick the IMP over a LGV for hunting.. but for target shooting I would have the LGV.. So the question is.. Is the IMP better then a LGV for what you need it for?

When you use a coin comparison, why not put the diameter of that coin on the screen. Metric and inches Please. That is one fine shooting little gun, they do a bang up job at Sandwell!
