We got the chance to tour an organic dairy farm in Vermont on the US/Canada Border! This farm sells milk to Organic Valley which you've probably seen in your grocery store. 🐄

@@sonyagraske376 You heard it from the man's own mouth. Sad reality, the babies really break my heart. As I understand the bond a mother cow has with her newborn calf. And for them to never get that, seems so cruel to me. They teach & encourage them to stand & take their first steps, hence why those two we saw right as they entered the place, were still struggling to stand up. No Mothers!!

Interesting timing. I just happened to watch a video here on KZfaq just a couple days ago on the day in the life of an Amish dairy farm. Went through great detail of what all is involved. It's a lot of work. Wore me out just watching! Thanks for sharing this. I love cows.

My uncle had a dairy cow farm. I loved going there when the cows were in the barn and time for milking. A lot of work and money goes into raising animals.

Sad reality of how baby calves are in fact treated on a lot of dairy farms. Those calves have not even figured out how to stand, which means they did not even get a chance to stay with their mothers long enough to have ever nursed. Their first milk from their mother is in fact the most important for their health & well-being. Odds are those two you saw that were alone, are in fact male (bull calf's). Those in the room in the tiny stalls are females they want to retain for the milking line. Thanks for taking us along & showing truths.
@kate4biglittlevoices9 күн бұрын
Will they ever be able to stand ?
@120acres9 күн бұрын
@@kate4biglittlevoices Yes, they will figure it out. But naturally the mother cow will lick them & encourage them and that helps them to stand, in my opinion from watching my own cattle.

Real milk, real dairy cows.. ❤ Fresians. Fun fact: Cows have the same gestational cycle as a pregnant woman. My Dad (lived on dairy farm all his childhood) was spot on when I asked him to calculate each of his grandchildren's due date.

Poor cows, what a miserable life! Separated from their babies also.
@120acres27 күн бұрын
Exactly, those calves still trying to stand have never even had the chance to nurse from their mother.
@Bozemanboss25 күн бұрын
And the male calves are useless to a dairy farm, in the US anyhow. They’re sold off to factories for cheap beef products and veal farms. 👎🏼. Look at the dairy farms in Scotland, a world of difference.
@Bozemanboss22 күн бұрын
Babies are Taken from the mother who is chained back up so she can’t go to her baby when it’s crying. Farms won’t waste giving milk to male babies, no profit. Males are sold off weekly to cheap beef farms and veal factories. Gave up dairy products when I wrote a thesis on the carbon footprint left by large dairy farms and the treatment of the milking cows. 😢. Mothers live approximately 7 years and delivers 6 babies. Spends her entire life having babies that are taken away, while she’s chained back in place.
