My Dad turned me on to his music. I met Vern when he was leaving a show I was at. My Dad and I went together. I went up to him and shook his hand. He was probably pushing 65 or so. He seemed amazed that a 22 year old loved his music. George Jones called Vern “The Voice” for a reason.

This is slightly off-topic but not really, so please let me vent...RFD-TV will rerun "Pop Goes the Country" and shows that were done by Porter Wagoner and The Wilburn Brothers, but nobody has aired repeats of "That (Good Ole) Nashville Music" and the speculation is it's because Purina was the sponsor and Purina won't sponsor the reruns! How foolish! Except for the occasional clip during a news story to report the death of someone like Vern Gosdin they won't do the fans right and air these shows in their entirety. I rant because this clip IS IN FACT from "That Nashville Music." A bunch of Vern's fans would enjoy seeing the other songs he sang from this episode.
