A compilation of Vernon and Joshua struggling in multilingual.
Note: I do not ship these idols! I only admire their friendship!
Group name: Seventeen
PLEASE READ THIS:
This is not a hate video! I am not trying to make fun of them in any way. If you’re multilingual, making mistakes is common and absolutely okay! I just admire their hard work trying to keep up with their English while talking Korean most of the time. I really like it when they both help each other out when one of them is struggling. I only find these moments cute and admiring. Anyone can make mistakes or forget things!

@@ditichaudhari7951 not that but like you need to piece things in one language that it is in then move it to the target language all the while protecting the more or less exact meaning in what the person said or what the text says. @winternight1420

This is my moment. I studied translation too and I took the interpretation class, as you say, it's really hard. You have to listen the speaker, then translate in your head to the target language and then actually say it WHILE keeping listening to the speaker and translating another sentence(s). I've been searching for jobs and it seriously stresses me out when they are looking for an interpreter but say they want a translator. They are totally different things that requiere a different set of skills!! I can translate anything but doing interpretation, specially simultaneous is really not my forte; add the shyness and anxiety...Sorry, I had to rant a little. 😅
@itspribanerjee
@itspribanerjee Жыл бұрын
I agree. I work as a Kor-Eng Translator/Interpreter. But luckily we follow consecutive interpretation. So they speak in Kor/Eng then they pause then I interpret and say in Eng/Kor and then we continue. And while they are speaking I usually take notes. This would be more time consuming but its what i'd prefer. I have never done Simultaneous Interpretation and honestly I could never do it my brain would go crazyyyyy 😵‍💫

@@annabivera3308 I speak french (as native language), english, german, swedish, italian, korean (I'm still learning it) and I'm currently learning mandarin. The tip I would give is to immerse yourself in your language learning. You have to make it a routine to learn efficiently. And contrary to what most people think, you are more efficient in your learning process if you don't only use textbooks, but watch movies/series, read novels or anything like that, listen to music in the language you want to learn. I would advise you to choose a language you're genuinely interested in; you will not learn efficiently if you're not interested in the language. For instance, don't learn Korean only if it's because everyone learns it and it sounds cool to say you can speak Korean!

I'm a baby Carat, and I just gotta say: *I Love These Two.* Also, I'm studying Korean and Brushing up on my Spanish, and I can relate, lol. One thing that helps me is I realized how I do the EXACT same stuff for my own mother tongue ALL the time. Like in situations with 2 other native English speakers, I might say something in English that makes complete sense to me and one person, but doesn't make sense to the other person. So, I have to find totally different words and phrases to express what I'm trying to say so the 3rd person understands. Or times where I know what I wanna say but don't know which way to phrase it so it works best for the situation I'm in. So, I just sit there and grasp at possible phrasing till I find a good one. Or the times I just can't find the right words, or I'm struggling to get my tongue to say certain sounds that day... A LOT of the things I mess up with in my native tongue I also do with secondary(+) langauges. I've learned that a lot of people communicate differently, regardless of language or culture. Some people are more adstract, wordy, logical, relaxed, concise, emotional or non-emotional, some are better at reading people or expressing themselves while others aren't good at either or both. In the end, as long as you communicate your point thats the goal. Fluency is just being able to communicate your intended message more easily. Even native speakers aren't "perfect". Figure out how the people think, the culture, the language and how the main method of communication works- get a LOT of practice and exposure. Eventually you'll figure it out and be able to say the things you want to say in whatever way works best for you and the people around you- "perfectly" or not. You'll be good. 👍

I understand them so well. Am German, I speak of course German, my second language is English coz of school and self taught. Right now do I learn Korean for 1 year and 6 months and understand some words I didn't learned yet plus actually for a good year French and Spanish. But since I have my main focus on Korean to have it as my third language, I just now some words in French and Spanish, but will continue with that too. In conclusion, I understand Vernon and Joshua, that they struggle so much. It's hard to learn but not impossible. Kids learn faster than adults and the older you get as an adult the more it can be hard for you, but also not impossible to achieve it
